It looks like Mariah Carey may share more with Christina Milian than an ex in Nick Cannon.
Because, just like the singer’s 2004 hit, the ratings of her new E! “docu-series” are dipping it low.
It’s not all doom and gloom, though.

As reported, the December 4th premiere of ‘Mariah’s World’ commanded an audience of 1.24 million. Yet this was on E!’s sister channel Bravo and with the benefit of a lead-in from the immensely popular ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta. Its transmission on its own network was only watched by 630k.
Still, the pairing of the numbers for the one-off simulcast made for a “respectable” debut.
So how did the show fare without the padding?
According to TV By The Numbers, the second airing of the series this past Sunday was watched by 809k viewers, with a 18-49 rating of 0.4.

On the one hand, when left to stand on its own merit, the show was unable to maintain its million + viewership. Yet, at the same time, it’s showing some growth on its home station.
Will ‘Mariah’s World’ sink or swim? It appears it’s a bit too early to tell.

We’re surprisingly enjoying the show. Indeed, it’s not the ‘Being Bobby Brown’ sized mess we thought it would be.
Mimi, as OTT as she can be, is coming across relatively well and her supporting cast make for engaging viewing. We actually like Stella.
The only drawback is that the whole thing feels like it would have been more appealing 5 years ago.

from what i noticed, besides for a few shows, e! shows do not do well with ratings. total divas, which is on season 6, hasnt crossed the million viewers mark since season opener for season 5. wags gets .5 million views, and kuwtk doesnt do “HOT” numbers, with only 1.5 million viewers average or so.
Never really thought of Mariah Carey as “normal”. But when watching the show she actually seems “cool”. Dont see much Diva Behavior, she seems like a grown woman, raising kids and trying to balance a career. Shes actually Likeable. I need more Singing at the piano. More Jazz moments
Agreed, for me that’s the one thing missing. Scenes of her singing by the piano showcasing the full ‘Thank-God-I-Found-You/Mariah-Surprises-Fans’ beauty of her current 2016 vocals that true lambs know is there in spades when she’s not sleep deprived. It’s clear the drama and entertainment portion is set up to come from the backstage posse so more scenes showcasing her real artistry would benefit the production. As someone who was blown away by the SSFT I’m surprised that none of the slayage is being shown on film AND why pre-recorded vocals are being slotted in when she was vocally on Fire throughout. #PorQue?

Love Mariah but the drama is so superficial. No one wants to hear why dancers don’t like the backup singers. Her manager has so much plastic in her, she shouldn’t be allowed near hot surfaces. This should have been a stronger reflection of her songwriting and producing skills … It’s very cheap.
Agreed, they’re missing a trick not showing how on fire Mariah’s signature talents are currently.., Balance wise things are off. Glad she still has All I Want For Christmas, she can make some money on that… she still can’t go on tour alone in the States, only as an opening act to Lionel Richie. Her career is in a massive mess status.

Mariah is a clown who looks sillier with age. She spends half her time searching for whatever shred of relevancy she has left and the other half clinging to it for dear life. Embarrassing. Funny, but embarrassing.

TV show, MAC makeup line, Sweet fantasy World tour, Vegas Residency, All I want for you concert series @ beacon theatre, Joint tour with Lionel Richie dominating holiday radio once again… all in one year. She’s really doing the darn thing, FR FR. not everybody can or will have that to their credit almost 30 years after their debut

The show is actually quite interesting and its weird that Mariah is the least dramatic person on the show.
Anthony Burrell is a big ole diva who seems a little overwhelmed by his new found success that even Mariah had to tell him not to get saucy on camera!
