Tyler Perry’s ‘Boo! 2’ Tops Weekend Box Office

Published: Tuesday 24th Oct 2017 by Rashad

Tyler Perry has struck comedy gold with an unlikely hit – the Madea Halloween-inspired ‘Boo’ franchise.

This time last year, as we reported here, despite opening the same weekend as Tom Cruise‘s  highly anticipated ‘Jack Reacher,’  ‘Perry’s ‘Boo! A Madea Halloween’ emerged the unexpected victor in the box office showdown.  Fast forward to this past weekend, the Lionsgate film’s successor – ‘Boo 2!’ – has followed the footsteps of its hilarious predecessor.

Get the details inside:

Via AH:

Tyler Perry’s “Boo 2! A Madea Halloween” has scared up a healthy audience in its first weekend in theaters. Studio estimates on Sunday say the comedy sequel earned $21.7 million from 2,388 theaters to easily take first place.

In second place is the long-delayed disaster epic “Geostorm,” which opened to a dismal $13.3 million against a reported $120 million production budget. Gerard Butler stars in the film from first-time director Dean Devlin, who produced “Independence Day.”

That’s 2 for 2!  Will we be seeing a ‘Boo 3’ this time next year?  Time will tell…

First let me start by saying I love Tyler Perry and all the things he does career wise as well as him being a philanthropist. I just saw BOO 2 and am so disappointed because I desperately needed a laugh. I just didn’t have any this time around like I did with the first BOO. My fiancee and I don’t really go out often because of our situation. He donateted stem cells 3 years ago to his brother and not only did it effect his heart, but his entire system. We’re blessed to have a wonderful family and the staples we need in life. However, over 15 operations means lots of medical bills and no money for things like movies. Last night when we were in bed I told Phil we’re going to BOO 2 because tickets are 1/2 price and I really need to laugh. We semi-laugh at the closing outtakes, but didn’t find the movie funny like BOO 1. I needed to leave there laughing so bad because I know I’m getting depressed, but just didn’t. Sorry I’ll keep on supporting all of Tyler’s projects because it’s only one out of thousands! Love Him
