The actor Eddy Murphy has woken up to claims that he is a deadbeat dad who has abandoned the daughter he fathered with the singer turned Reality TV star Mel B.

Melanie is currently battling her allegedly abusive ex-husband Stephen Belafonte in court and found herself forced to face another legal hurdle hours ago when he asked a judge to grant him visitation rights to one of Mel’s children.

The problem? He isn’t the child’s biological father. Who is?

Mel does not want Belafonte to be able to access the child and is fighting to protect her against him and the legal muscle he has employed to support his efforts.

‘The Daily Mail’ reports exclusively:

Belafonte’s lawyer, Grace Jamra, said that she had been trying to reach Murphy, Angel’s biological dad, to discuss Belafonte’s step-parent request but to no avail.

Jamra said she was told by his lawyers that Murphy is simply ‘not interested.’

‘Mr Murphy has had no contact with the child,’ she told the court.

Jamra added that she had tried to serve Murphy with legal papers, but ‘Mr. Murphy is avoiding service.’

As part of their divorce settlement, Mel – real name Melanie Brown – and Belafonte were to split the proceeds of their former marital home in LA, worth an estimated $6-7 million.

I strongly believe that Brown’s abrupt decision to cut off all ties between Angel and I has been emotionally traumatizing and detrimental to Angel’s mental health and well being.
