Report: BET Cancels ‘The Quad’ After 2 Seasons

Published: Monday 9th Apr 2018 by Rashad

BET’s HBCU-inspired drama – ‘The Quad’ – may have earned mountains of praise for its suspenseful drama and engaging storylines, but those consistent wins on the critical front were not enough to keep the network interested in renewing the show for a season 3.

Details inside:

“The series dipped in ratings from its first to second season. Season 2 averaged a 0.2 in the adults 18-49 demographic and 553,000 viewers per episode in Live+Same Day according to Nielsen, each metric down around 30% from the first season.”

Much like we reported here, the Anika Noni Rose-led show – created by Felicia Henderson and Charles Holland –  saw its second season premiere almost a year after its predecessor ended. It’s possible in that long window fans simply lost interest.

Another one bites the dust.

Can’t say I didn’t see it coming. This season was complete trash. It was all over the place. Shame because the first season was fantastic

BET is a HORRIBLE network to foster and nurture new projects. They do not have the creative talent or financial resources to truly keep original programming afloat. There’s no reason for this series or BEING MARY JANE to both be shuttling out the door this year.

I agree about Mary Jane. I honestly could not get into this Quad show. I watched 4 episodes last year and that was it for me.

They waited too long to bring season 2, and when they did I was completely lost trying to track all the characters and stories. This season felt rushed and thrown together from the beginning, unlike the 1st season which really took time developing stories and looking at each character. Really sad, because BET needs original series and this one had potential. The producers ruined it.
