BET hit quite the home-run with their mega-successful New Edition biopic and the network is re-upping with ‘The Bobby Brown Story.’
The two-night TV event will dial into the controversial narrative of the group’s headline-grabbing member Bobby Brown.
Woody McClain reprises the role of Brown from the New Edition telepic; he’ll appear alongside the likes of Gabrielle Dennis (who’ll play Whitney Houston), Mekhi Phifer, Laz Alonso, and Lance Gross.
The biopic promises an unfiltered insight into the highs, lows, and redemption of R&B’s most-notorious bad boy.
All corners of his story will be explored. Hence, viewers will bear witness to his solo run, rollercoaster relationship with Whitney, and his battles with substances.

BET have announced that the biopic will broadcast September 4th and 5th 2018.
A series of teasers have been released to whip up buzz:
With the network’s highly watched BET Awards set to air June 24th, it wouldn’t be surprising if a full-length trailer was released during the show. Time will tell.
Still, on paper the project looks all sorts of enticing. Especially with the talented list of names at its helm.
Kiel Adrian Scott has been tapped as director, while the screenplay comes courtesy of ‘New Edition Story’ writer Abdul Williams. Also returning from the previous project is Jesse Collins – who once again as executive producer.
