Published: Saturday 1st Sep 2018 by David

Welcome to another edition of Retro Rewind, the TGJ original feature carved out to celebrate TV and Film’s brilliant past.

On the agenda today? ‘Titanic.’

Directed by James Cameron, the movie-which is based on a true story- starred Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio and saw them tell the tale of two lovers from different classes whose worlds collide when they board the HMS Titanic.

Little did they know that they would be struck by disaster.

Revisit the movie below…

The movie generated $2 billion at the box office (epic considering its $200 million budget) and was elevated to new heights when its soundtrack, fronted by Celine Dion, sold 30 million copies worldwide.

Black panther will never be as iconic as Titanic. black panther is just another in a million super hero movies

Besides ticket prices were much cheaper when TItanic come out, so You can’t compare the money they made. More people saw TItanic at the cinema when it come out that’s for sure.

Lets not do this its unnecessary, I enjoyed both films that are INCREIBLY different at that and soundtracks. Celine’s song however just happens to be more iconic and still brings the joy and grief of a love you either have or lost.

The biggest thing in music and film industry since… its release. Adjusted by inflation Titanic is the biggest film since 1997, over Avatar and of course over any basic Marvel flick. Oh and has any of those basic flicks made their score or songs be huge once and for all??? NO. You need greatness for that. And greatness becomes legendary. Nothing about Blck Panther or any Marvel flick or any of their soundtracks is iconic. Nothing. Hell the only iconic super hero stuff is Nolan´s Batman due to the director´s talent, Ledger´s performance and Hans Zimmer soundtrack. The rest is forgettable.

This is 2018 b|tch. No Uncle Tom is getting away with dissing black people or black culture. Period.
