Elba, who is one of Hollywood’s most sought-after actors, beams a-front of the publication’s newest issue. But within its inner-pages reveals he was pleasantly surprised by the honor.
Upon hearing the news, the 46-year-old ‘Luther’ star said:
“I was like, ‘come on, no way. Really?’ Looked in the mirror, I checked myself out.
I was like, ‘Yeah, you are kind of sexy today’. But to be honest, it was just a nice feeling. It was a nice surprise – an ego boost for sure.”
He went on to stress that his aesthetic wasn’t always what it is today. He said:
“I was very tall and skinny. And my name was Idrissa Akuna Elba, okay? I got picked on a little bit.
But again, as soon as I could grow a moustache, I was the coolest kid on the block. Grew a moustache, had some muscles, bonkers.”
Though thankful for the title, Elba seized the moment to pivot attention to paramount issues, namely the importance of voting in the mid-term elections:

People’s choices of sexiest man/woman can be very suspicious, he’s not ugly, but he’s far from being a guy that every person in the world would call s***, someone like Michael B.Jordan, David Gandy, Matt Bomer, Tyson Beckford or Zac Efron would be more suitable and universally acceptable. It’s not the first time they made a strange choice, it happened before with Gwyneth Paltrow, Blake Shelton and Kate Hudson.
