‘Empire’ season 3 has yet to hit screens, but talk of a potential spin-off continues to gather steam.

And it’s not just speculation; said hints are being dropped by the senior staff on the hit FOX show and specifically pertain to Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard‘s characters.

When quizzed on the scope for a sister series at the TCA press tour, executive producer Ilene Chaiken said:

“There certainly could be [a spin-off] and we talk about it.

I think the show offers so many opportunities. There are potential spin-offs with Lucious and Cookie’s characters, sure.” [Source]

Her words come after creator Lee Daniels ignited discussion about the possibility of such a show last year.

Folk will have to keep it locked to find out if it comes to fruition. Although, we must say we’d sooner prefer a return to form for ‘Empire’ than we we would want any new titles…just yet.

As for ‘Empire’? Season 3 returns September 21st on FOX and will feature guest spots from Mariah Carey, Taye Diggs, and more.
