‘Get Out’: African-American Horror Movie Earns $100 Million At The Box Office

Published: Monday 13th Mar 2017 by David

Jordan Peele‘s ‘Get Out‘ continues to scorch its rivals with epic numbers at the box office!

Good news below…

The African-American horror movie, which stars the British actor Daniel Kaluuya, has generated over $100,000,000 at the box office as its positive reviews continue to be spread far and wide.

Why this feat spells good news for its producers over at Universal?

It only cost $4.5 million to make.

Deadline adds:

As a horror movie, Get Out is truly an exception. Most genre films drop in the second weekend by at least 60% and are front-loaded. But Get Out continues to impress with only slight dips. Last weekend, the movie eased a jawdropping 15% for $28M (the best hold for a horror film since Dracula 2000), and this weekend Get Out is set to pull in $21M, just 24% down.

Yet to see it?

Its story follows a young black man who is introduced to his girlfriend’s for the first time.

What happens when he realises that there is more to their small town than meets the eye?

Danger.

Why do you think the movie is faring so well?

This movie was not all that….they really blew this movie up like it’s was best suspense/horror film of all time. It was absolutely NOTHING scary about this movie not unless you’re a person that scare easily. It was only like 2 moments that made me jump a little the rest of the movie was weird & a little offensive. After seeing this movie I see why it got 100% on Rotten Tomatoes review….the white folk love to see us black people in a negative light….especially when it’s movies like this that play on racism they got a kick out of this one I bet’cha. The best part of the movie was the end…..a waste of my money I tell ya….I could’ve waited until this came out on DVD, better yet CABLE.

Did u even watch the same movie? It was the whites, not blacks, who were shown in a negative light, and still was praised by the whites on Rotten Tomatoes. This was a redemption movie for us blacks! If you were offended that says a lot about you!

It deserves all the money that it makes ,just saw it this weekend it really is a great movie and I will have you rooting for the main character. My theater audience started clapping when a certain character was killed

this movie was really dope, but id label this a physiological thriller if anything. If it had been more blood and gore ,id say it was scary, but it seemed to be more witty and comical than anything. Worth a watch, but i wish i had waited for the dvd!

I liked it, it was cool. Nice to see it’s winning! I’m in an interracial relationship so I know exactly how the lead character felt walking into his girlfriends home and visiting the parents for the first time! LOL

I didn’t even realize the star was from an episode of Black Mirror…congrats to them the movie was great I enjoyed it

Ive heard nothing but great things about the movie, So much so that its convinced me to go and see it this weekend….. I would say congrats to Jordan Peele, proving Hollywood wrong yet again…. Who woulda thought a “horror” film centered around an interracial relationship with a leading actor who happens to be black.. Would end up slaying the box office like this! Im sure RACIST Hollyweird is taking notes.
