Halle Berry: “My Oscar Win Meant Nothing For Diversity”

Published: Thursday 29th Jun 2017 by David

Halle Berry is disappointed that her Oscar win did little to remove the barriers Hollywood places in front of actors of color.

I sat there and I really thought, ‘Wow, that moment really meant nothing. It meant nothing. I thought it meant something, but I think it meant nothing.’

She shared the thoughts above during an interview set up to promote her new movie ‘Kidnap’ and discuss the importance of racial diversity within entertainment. There, she revealed that she was saddened by the fact that she remains the only black actress to earn a Best Actress award since her win fifteen years ago.

It’s troubling, to say the least.

Question is why is she still promoting that movie when half of us have seen it for free

Have you ever heard of contractual obligations? If you are paid to do a job (movie+promotion) you have to do it. Music artists promote new albums all the time, even when bootleggers downloaded their album. Same goes for actors.

Old news. Oscar wins for black actors & actresses never meant anything. They’re only in place to expand white actors’ careers, for black actors its just a pacifier.

Halle is UN.grateful……. black people believe it or not but you guys are some terrible actors and actresses that’s why you do not get Oscars……. some of you are exceptional but majority black films have horrible absolutely horrible acting that is why you do not win
