H&M Issues Apology For Racist “Coolest Monkey In The Jungle” Ad

Published: Tuesday 9th Jan 2018 by Sam

H&M felt the fire and fury from folk all over the world yesterday when an ad of theirs surfaced featuring a black model wearing a hoody with the words “coolest monkey in the jungle.”

Shocked and dismayed, millions took to social media to express their disgust at the racially insensitivity.

Said critics included The Weeknd, who announced that he’s severing ties with the company as a direct result.

Clearly feeling the sting, H&M have released a formal – longer – statement of apology. Their words below…

Meh. For many this will be too little too late.

H&m was very wrong for posting a picture with a racist quote like that while the boy was wearing it what were they thinking why did they do that it’s very offensive and disrespectful are they racist? I’m proud or the Weeknd for cutting ties with them they should have known better smh

Never shopped there and I never will! I’d rather drink Flint Michigan water! The nerve of them to use our beautiful black youth to push their agenda, racism and insensitivity! You might not love them but we do! So kiss my round black assss! Bye! Ciao! Sayonara! Buenas noches! Arrivederci! Duces! Get ta steppin! lmao ?

It is too late. This hoodie shouldn’t have been manufactured in the first place. Putting the hoodie on the black model isn’t the only problem. Coolest m***** in the jungle. What was that even supposed to mean? It’s not like it has a picture of a m***** on it. And the white kid’s hoodie says Survival Expert and Junior Tour Guide and his says… coolest m***** in the jungle. ??? Nah. H&M knew exactly what they were doing and the fact that they waited for the outrage to get too much attention before they decided to apologize is more insulting.

The world as we know has compared blacks to monkeys. So the world ASSUME they had racial intentions when this photo was taken. Perhaps HM NEVER COMPARED BLACK TO MONKEYS?

Steven, are you lost? Did someone take your meth and self worth? Did Trump America promise your poor assss something it didn’t give to you? Muva Oprah has more money in the crack of her assss than you or your bumpkin family will EVER see! So why are you mad? Use that white skin for something else besides releasing your white trash frustrations on black people! Mama June is waiting at your trailer park with biscuits and lopsided boooty for your desires and pleasures lol ?

I’m soooo over these million/billion dollar corporation making grave racial offenses, and thinking that a tweet will solve everything. How about a formal press release from H&M? How about a formal apology to the young model who’s face was connected with this nonsense? How about a commitment to being more racially sensitive? How about you put your money where your mouth is?

I fuq’d with Dove and H&M heavy for years! I’m over both of them now!

  8. January 9, 2018

Everything will be ok now, this is the game. you can get mad and whatever but it won’t change that fact that everything will be ok now, sad but true.

  9. Cough Cough January 9, 2018

Disgusting. Shame on you H&M. This was definitely done with some dark intentions.there is absolutely no way this could have been missed from a large corperation like this. Absolutely no logic because people will just boycott you.
