After using breakout hit ‘Empire’ to take Trai Byers (Andre), Jussie Smollett (Jamal), and Bryshere Gray (Hakeem) from virtually unknown to household names, the show’s creator/director Lee Daniels is looking to create his next set of stars.

Via the aptly titled ‘Star,’ Daniels has teamed with FOX to create a new musical drama centered around a three girl-band’s rise to the top (and the drama, heartache, and disappointment encountered along the way).  Set to begin shooting in December in Atlanta, the execs at the network are looking to fill the roles fairly quickly and have launched an international digital casting call.

Here are descriptions of the four roles:

STAR: Character is a Caucasian female, 18 years old (actor must be 18 years of age or over). She’s a tough chick with a badass attitude.

ALEXANDRA: Character is an African-American female, about 20 (actor must be 18 years of age or over). She’s an elegant yet classic beauty. Alexandra wants to put this material world behind her so she can make real, authentic music.

SIMONE: Character is Half African-American Half Caucasian, Star’s younger sister, 16 years old (actor must be 18 years of age or over). Tragic and adorable.

COTTON: Character is a half African-American and half Latina transgender woman with a stunning look, 20 (actor must be 18 years of age or over). She has an especially keen eye for fashion. (source)

    Tragic and adorable? Excuse me?

I hope they don’t plan on using that racist and played out “Tragic Mulatto” stereotype in 2015.

Anyways, congrats on there being a Trans character. & Do they have any roles for Black men? I’m 19 & cute lmao give me a role.

Let’s stop here!! No tragic mulattos in 2015.

  3. Lmfao_Hoe October 21, 2015

Really tragic mulattos in 2015? Who the f*** is going through that bs. So many mixed children I’ve seen ain’t complaining or looking for sympathy. Especially if black mixed with Hispanic or white.

This would be good look for X Factors Hannah Barrett or The Voice’s Ruth Brown or Isher Haughton unless they’re looking for a “certain look”

    Even Alexandra Burke

It would be great for some UK talent to be on there
