LeToya Luckett’s solo journey is climbing to new heights.
The Destiny’s Child alum successfully impacted the music scene with her chart-topping debut and in more recent years has focussed on acting.
For Luckett, the latter has proven a wise (and lucrative) move. So much so that the latest chapter of her narrative may be her biggest career look yet.

Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival this morning, legendary singer Dionne Warwick revealed that the Houston native has been cast as lead in a movie about her life.
Tentatively titled ‘Dionne,’ the biopic will depict the early period of Warwick’s career from 1962 through 1968 and is based on the singer’s autobiography ‘My Life as I See it.’
The AMBI Pictures production also stars Danny Glover and interestingly Lady Gaga.
Glover will play Warwick’s father, while Gaga is set to portray Cilla Black, the singer’s “musical nemesis.” Olympia Dukakis rounds out the main cast in her role as Marlene Dietrich, Warwick’s mentor.
Randall Jahnson (‘The Doors, The Mask of Zorro’) wrote the screenplay, while Mario Van Peebles (New Jack City) is in talks to direct.
Speaking to prospective buyers of the title (as is customary at the festival), Warwick said of Luckett:
“She is perfect and she has exactly the right look. She will bring out what is needed for this part.”
The project reads amazingly on paper. Here’s hoping everything aligns so as for its potential to be realised on the big screen.

Don’t like it at all. They don’t have similar voices (very important) nor do they resemble each other (even in Dionne’s younger days). Nope.
They do favor. You people turn your noses up at every biopic casting! Obviously Dionne gave her stamp of approval so sit down and wait for the film. A great actress makes it believable!
In Dionne’s early years her voice was higher. Letoya’s voice is the perfect fit for this movie and she’s become an amazing actress

Toya is the definition of perseverance. She’s gone from low budget straight to TV films, to starring in her OWN successful sitcom and now a major biopic. Hopefully we finally get some new music!!!
Good to see LaToya out here still doing her thing. So long as Dionne approves of her being cast to play her, I see no issue. However, if we’re strictly going by physical resemblance, Toya’s Doe-like features don’t really give me young Dionne Warwick. Teyanna Taylor’s almond eyes, high cheekbones and pouty lips would have been a seamless fit. Still, congrats to Toya on snagging the role.

Although id prefer a new album I have to commend her abilty to stay getting booked all over the place.
This I hope gives her the proper shine she deserves as she generally played all roles on tv and movies well. Theres a certain energy she exudes that’s warm and engaging. Very well spoken woman also.
I like LeToya Luckett. This should be good. Hope with Dionne Warwick hopefully working chairside with LeToya, she could really pull it off. Also with lifetime not being the production, it may be a plus.

DEATH so gag-me’s publicist released an official statement saying Gags wasn’t attached to the film. But a few days ago Dionne was posing in front of a film poster with Sir Gaga’s name on it. LMFAOO! KIII Gaygay got firedT hunnie!

LOL that’s what I was thinking! gag-me is more famous than LeToya and gags is such a big-headed narcissistic cûnt that she couldn’t stand playing second fiddle to her (even though she said Destiny’s child were one of her biggest inspirations growing up).
Dionne’s camp offically confirmed her involvement with a statement, so it’s obvious that either gaygay got fired or walked out. KIIIIIII
