As buzz goes, few can boast the volume surrounding ‘Mudbound.’
Already an early Oscar favorite and showered with praise at Sundance, the Dee Rees movie initially caught critics’ attention when Netflix won the broadcast rights – for $12.5 million.
So what’s it about?
A big-screen spin on Hillary Jordan’s 2009 novel of the same name, the story (which is set in 1946, after World War II) follows the fates of two drastically different families in Mississippi. The narrative is tied together by two celebrated soldiers from each unit.
Upon returning home from the war, their unexpected friendship sees tensions rise between their respective families.
Anchored by Jason Mitchell and Carey Mulligan, the flick also stars Mary J. Blige.
Ahead of its November 17th premiere, watch the gripping first trailer…
I’m sure that this film is good, but i’m tired of seeing black people as slaves, in pain and down trodden and i’m tired of them winning awards only when they’re in position. I will support this film but needs to start seeing films about what we created and have achieved in this society in this day and age without a white hero saving us.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, STILL HOPE MARY J GETS A NOMINATION
i totally agree with you on this . like enough already ! we have so much more to tell than juss s**** growth and post slavery stories
Wow way to go Mary!
