The Powerpuff Girls Welcome African-American Member

Published: Friday 8th Sep 2017 by David

Good news alert!

Cartoon Network, the platform which has housed the hit children’s show The Powerpuff Girls since 1994, has introduced an African-American member to the crime-fighting force.

An awesome development below…

The show returns for its next season on September 17th is named ‘Powerpuff Girls: The Power of Four.’ In it, the original girls ( Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup) will meet their new sister as they face new evils and combat fresh challenges.

Her name?

Toya.

Jamie Ondarza, Senior Vice President at Turner Broadcasting in Southern Europe and Africa shared…

Toya is definitely a perfect fit as the fourth Powerpuff Girl.  She is confident, bubbly and quirky, all the values that we are familiar with, love and appreciate. We have a lot of surprises up our sleeves.

Fantastic!

How do you feel about Cartoon Network’s decision to diversify?

I’m all for this….. but they should have picked a name that went with the others. The name Toya does not fit with the others.

Good point. Blossom, buttercup, bubbles, and Toya.

I agree ? I find it funny tho, bc ethnic names do stick out. It’s like pointing out the elephant in the room. Toya is cute tho

Why couldn’t her name start with a B like the other girls, why does she have to have green hair curly kinky brown hair would do just fine I feel like she looks ghetto she’s a little girl make her look like the normal little black girl

So they added a token for pandering purposes. Not impressed.

Diversity for the sake of “diversity” is disingenuous, tacky and lame. Identity politics and SJW-b******* strikes again. Targeting kids younger and younger.

  9. S****** Blonde September 8, 2017

But it’s racist to welcome a white character in Aladdin ??‍♂️

    • ThatMessJuice.Flop September 8, 2017

Because everything isn’t already white right?

You guys are literally involved in every f****** project under the sun but as soon as it isn’t about you ya wanna get mad

    • SMH September 8, 2017

Um no, changing an already ethnic character to a white one in Aladdin is racist. Get your fake wannabe reverse racism facts straight.

    • ? + ✈ = ? September 8, 2017

They have black love on OWN. Maybe whites should have a tv show called white love on FOX

  10. ThatMessJuice.Flop September 8, 2017

“Toya,” how cliche. Glad this crap wasn’t on the air when I was a kid.

  13. 2Bad2Bme September 8, 2017

She looks and feels so out of place. Issa no for me.

  14. I speaks the truth September 8, 2017

Talk about black privilege why couldn’t they have an Indian, Arabic or Chinese girl?

    • SMH September 8, 2017

And what is black privilege exactly? Is that the same as whiteface? See how stupid that sounds?

  15. MovieAmi September 8, 2017

I don’t think this virtue signaled quite hard enough. They should have make her a black transgender Muslim refugee. Check off as many of those boxes you can…
