could have benefited by having a writer who had actually thought the storyline through past season 1

Weird that this post happened, because just yesterday I was thinking the same thing. I have watched the first season multiple times, wondering where the hell they went wrong.

you can always tell, like if you see the first 5 seasons of supernatural verse everything afterwards, you can clearly see that the original writer had a beginning and an end he wanted to get to, after 5 you can literally see the writers scrambling to come up with a new plot season to season.

I stopped watching during the second season because it just got too convoluted.

The last season was as far as they could push it and even that was 1 season too many.

    Loved it though.

It was good up until the end of the second season. The third was watchable but getting silly and the fourth was ridiculous.
