TV personality Sherri Shepherd has announced that she is to leave ABC’s ‘The View’ today, doing so weeks after bidding adieu to the show’s creator/fellow host Barbara Walters.

In a statement released today, Shepherd announced:
It’s been seven wonderful years on The View and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on. I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and Bill Gedde for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to my View family and my fans for supporting me on this journey.”
What may have caused her departure? ‘Deadline‘ reports:
According to sources with knowledge of the situation, ABC and Shepherd’s camp were “too far apart” on terms of a new deal.
After learning of Shepherd’s departure, co-host Jenny McCarthy revealed that she planned to follow suit, shocking its audience with:

I don’t think this is the best decision for her. I know she’s going through a lot with the divorce, the fighting over the custody of the surrogate baby, and etc., but I think she should stay on The View. No shade but the standup isn’t a good back up plan, and I don’t recall any major film roles as of lately, but I truly wish her the best. I know she is going through it right now. It must be so hard to force a smile when you’re secretly crying.
