Stacey Dash Claps Back At Critics After ‘Oscars’ Controversy #ICYMI

Stacey Dash is dodging some serious criticism after her cringeworthy appearance at the Academy Awards last night.

As fans of the ‘Clueless’ diva know, she’s been Black Twitter’s enemy #1 after her assertion that there was ‘no need for Black history month or BET.’  The damning quote found new life after Chris Rock, the ceremony’s host, introduced her as the show’s “Director of Minority Outreach” – a clear, yet failed attempt to make light of her statements.

Well, somebody should’ve reached out to warn her she was in serious danger of embarrassing herself (again)…

After earning rounds of criticism of social media skeptics,  Dash took to her blog to say:

‘I spoke out against Black History Month. ( Why should there be such a thing? Haven’t we had more than just one month’s worth of accomplishments? Here my thoughts HERE.) Plus, I spoke out against the #OscarsSoWhite controversy HERE. My take? We need to stop complaining about white people oppressing us, we shouldn’t boycott the Oscars, and we need to support Chris Rock the host,” she said in the blog post.

“Which brings me to the joke. When they added ME to increase the diversity, I’m sure many black people rolled their eyes. I’m not “black enough,” they say. But guess what? I’ve heard that all my life. I would rather be a free thinking, black than a cookie cutter black who thinks – and votes – just like all my friends.”’ – Dash, 2016

  2. Try Voice February 29, 2016

    She’s such a clueless b*tch. (Pun intended)

  3. LmfaoHoe February 29, 2016

Wtf ? This use to be my b**** back in the day but nowadays idk. I guess it made sense to put her in Clueless.

  4. Cupid February 29, 2016

This is ridiculous! Most people didn’t even listen completely to what she had to say! Ignorance at best. “Black History” shouldn’t be boxed into one month and not only Black People watch “Black Entertainment TV” so that’s unnecessary.

    • Bam Bam February 29, 2016

      B. E. T. Was created because MTV and vh1 were not fond of playing videos of black people unless your last name was Jackson. There is a black history month because most of the history we learn about in this country is through the lens of white people. And why is it that only black people need to give up their stuff? Get rid of Univision, Telemundo Hispanic Heritage Month, Saint Patrick’s Day, Thanksgiving, Puertorican day parade,Logo, The Cooking Channel, CNN, Fox News, CMT. We only need one television station, that speaks one languages, that has only one type of person.

I grew up on MTV and Vh1 playing a diverse variety of videos. I believe black artist limited themselves with less creative videos that centered around pretty much nothing but drugs, strippers, and typical things that feed stereotypes. Even BET had a section for over explicit videos that were played after a certain time….. I’m not old enough to speak for anything before my time. Furthermore youre missingthe point. You say Black history is taught through the lense of White Americas views on Black history? Well please explain to me why those same views you speak of are mainly what’s talk about during “Black History Month”. Seems to me the only way to learn Black History is at an Hbcu. How about we stop fighting Stacey Dash and fight for our history to be adequately taught year round? It’s not about giving up nothing but establishing and improving ourselves as a people. I just see MY people fighting to win battles but not Wars. The Blaxk community needs work within. It’s sad that there’s always someone to point the finger at when it comes to the short comings of our community.

What I’m saying is that all we hear about Black history is that we were slaves and civil rights. We are apart of the very foundation of this country (forced, but none the less). Black history month is a time when we take to celebrate the accomplishments of our community. We should celebrate this year round, and I do but it’s also to educate others who may not know. It’s not mandated in school curriculums, and you don’t have to acknowledge it. As far as music and the BET Awards. Since you arent old enough (and niether am I for that matter) there is thus invention called Google and you can research why BET was created. You are saying that Luther Vandross, Patti Labelle, New Edition, Chaka Khan, Rick James, werent creative (they were popular around the time BET was created). You got to be about 15. Did you see the VMAs this year? I guess you think that Miley was just being edgy? So many bleeps and boob slips, but BET is ghetto…

      Thanks!

She’s done! After this, no black person will ever check for her again. White people would only use her and toss her aside, she shouldn’t be burning her bridges with the black community… She’s just a stupid b****.

  6. Cupid February 29, 2016

Everyone took one statement and ran with it. People have been complaining about Black History being squeezed into one month and not being part of schools curiculum for the longest. Now that a celebrity has voice their opinion it’s a problem? And BET has been a joke for the longest. The BET awards are so ghetto now and the top shows most watch by Black people aren’t even on BET which shows that us blacks can “Entertain” elsewhere and BET shouldn’t be a representation of what All African American people watch.

    • JazSullivan February 29, 2016

The BET Awards are NOT ghetto. They have been one of the BEST awards ceremonies for quite some time now, especially last year.

      • Cupid February 29, 2016

They are. Most performances are bleeped out. That’s embarassing, clean it up.

    • Tyler Makiavelli February 29, 2016

The BET Awards has higher ratings than any other award show…
      U sound stupid

  7. Lake Erie February 29, 2016

Is she on crack now? What TF was that and why did she? I honestly feel bad for her….. ….. smh.

  8. What now February 29, 2016

I wish this bítch would just kick the bucket already. So tired of seeing her shiny forehead a***.

  9. JazSullivan February 29, 2016

I agree with the very last sentence. Please don’t shoot me! A lot of us are afraid to go against the status quo. When I told my family that I was an independent, they gave me the side eye because we are EXPECTED to be democrats. With that being said, Stacey needs to have a seat.

  10. Authentic February 29, 2016

She’s just doing what y’all do Troll for attention.

    • Pat March 1, 2016

      Lmfao, very true!

  11. Reality February 29, 2016

I find it very disheartening that some black people feel the need to attack this woman for having a different set of views and opinions. Who’s to say whose views are superior to another? What makes your views better than anyone else? Instead of opening their minds to understand where she is coming from, some feel the need to throw stones because she thinks differently than most blacks. The mind like a parachute, it’s no good unless it’s open, and it goes both ways. We as an American society will never progress until we try to understand each other.

    • Hmmm… February 29, 2016

Black people aren’t attacking her for having a different set of opinions. They’re attacking her for having a stupid set of opinions, an ignorant set of opinions, an uneducated set of opinions etc. etc. etc. “Whose to say your views are better than anyone else’s?” It is absolutely false that an opinion cannot be wrong. I hate this excuse. People will spew all kinds of b******* and then when they face opposition they go “you can’t tell me nothing, that’s my opinion!!! I’m entitled to my opinion!!” Being entitled to an opinion does not mean anything if it doesn’t have any basis. There is a difference between an opinion and an informed opinion. I find it very disheartening that you are criticizing black people for not tolerating her nonsense and you are basically telling black people that we need to let Stacey offend us all she wants.

      • Reality February 29, 2016

The key word was SOME black people. And from what I’ve seen in the comment sections no one has yet to explain why she is wrong for her views, all I see are degrading comments. No one is giving an “informed opinion” as to why she is wrong. No one is educating each other, only attacking one another. And yes they are attacking her for not agreeing with most black peoples views, whether you agree or disagree that’s her personal opinion. Point blank period! Further more you missed my overall point. My point was UNITY. How can was as a nation come together if we are to busy being worried about who’s right! We need to at best learn how to agree to disagree, then learn to listen and understand each other other.

Y’all just reset this girl’s 15 minutes timer. It really comes down to Bitter Mix Girl syndrome. .

  13. FC/JC February 29, 2016

Im over this bytch, Delete her.

  14. MusicLife March 1, 2016

Everybody needs to realize her comments didn’t make sense when nearly ALL of the work she has done has catered to the black community. Even in the instance of Clueless, she was the token black girl, likely so blacks would watch the show. People don’t simply hate her. They hate her hypocrisy. There shouldn’t be a BET or such, yet you got paid for guest staring on their show? Just doesn’t add up.

I do agree she is allowed to be republican and have her own views. But if you’re going to have strong views in any way, make sure they are not hypocritical and that you have facts to back it up.

When she did her first interview about we shouldn’t have BET and black history month, she should have immediately followed it by saying, because we should celebrate blacks in history all throughout the year, as well with other races and ethnicities. But no Stacey less than smart dash didn’t explain her argument at time well. Seemingly making it seem like she backtracked week after. I’m done with her for moment.

  15. Janet March 1, 2016

I think she is very forward thinking and smart. I can see why blacks are mad, because she pokes holes in their victim mentality and refuses to play the role herself. She is successful and over everyone else making excuses. Slavery was decades ago, time to get a job and stop stealing s***. Separating yourselves and constantly trying to blame racism because you are too lazy to advance is tired and people are sick of hearing about it.

    • MusicLife March 1, 2016

You don’t have to think like her to be forward thinking. Like I don’t gripe on the past issues blacks have had, but I do realize that things are not all fair or at a place where we should be in 2016. Your comment makes it seem like we should accept police shooting unarmed black people because we shouldn’t be the victim. Bogus af.
