While the Oscars hit headlines this year for its lack of diversity, Broadway has emerged at the forefront of the move to celebrate talent from all races.
As reported, last night saw the 70th annual Tony Awards air and it brought with it a major milestone.
For, all four honors in the musical acting categories were awarded to actors of color.

Leslie Odom Jr. earned the Best Actor in a leading role in a musical award for his performance in ‘Hamilton’ (which collectively took 11 of its 16 nominations).
Daveed Diggs was named Best Actor In A Featured Role In a Musical – also for ‘Hamilton.’
Renée Elise Goldsberry took home Best Actress In A Featured Role In a Musical for…you guessed it…’Hamilton.’
Our girl Cynthia Erivo received the award for Best Actress In A Leading Role In A Musical for ‘The Color Purple.’
