Trey Songz Covers…David Bowie

Trey Songz‘ forthcoming LP will see him venture into new musical territory with hopes of reaching his full potential as a commercial and critical act.

How he’s kicking off his new and improved era? By covering the late David Bowie’s ‘Life on Mars?’ for HBO‘s ‘Vinyl.’

He shared:

When I was approached last summer by the producers of ‘Vinyl,’ the first thing I thought was, ‘Damn that’s a David Bowie song. I was honored that the producers thought of such a legend and myself in the same breath. I had to do what I do best, because icons like David paved the way. After learning of his passing I knew that this was a special moment in time and this cover became my personal tribute to David. Experiences like this have helped to shape my future and respect the past of others before me. This has become a very special moment in my career and I am blessed and grateful to be apart!

Exciting times.

      He is so tiring
He’s been in the industry for 15 years and still is the opening act on people’s tours, i.e Nicki Minaj. lmao

Trey…. go and have a 106 & park bench seat. All these years you have been doing music never once have you mentioned David Bowie as an influence on your music ?

First off, it’s annoying when people use ‘apart’ when talking about being included in something as opposed to saying ‘a part’. It’s completely negates what they’re trying to say. Now as far as this cover is concerned, I’m not going to come here and pretend to be a fan of David Bowie so I can bash Trey. The verses were cute but once he started belting, I had to take my headphones out. I do want him to deliver better material though.

He’s already butchered one legend and that man’s name is Prince. And Prince even had to give him a “Girl please make him stop!” Look now he’s butchering the late great David Bowie who’s next on his A tribute to the legends killer list Michael, wait he probably already butchered his tribute, Trey just give it a rest already.

It wasn’t, but it seems like the vast majority of the comments made above are based off of their opinions of Trey in general and has nothing to do with the actual post.

Wow, didn’t know Trey still liked to SING. I knows he can still SANG tho. But I haven’t heard him do either in a good while. This really wasn’t bad tho. Since he’s so gracious to be compared, I’m going to start needing him to live up to that word. Because people see it but he hasn’t been singing it lately.
