The Disney movie is helmed by Rich Moore and Byron Howard and hit theatres on March 4th 2016.
Since then, less than eight weeks into its run, the animated release has swept up a record-breaking $812.1 million with help from its stars Elba and Shakira.
This number makes it the highest-grossing movie of 2016 thanks to support from $231.4 million pulled in from China, $28.2 million from French movie goers even before it impacts Japan on April 23rd.
So, exactly how much did Disney spend on the profit-rocking release? $151 million, recouping $19.5 million of that on its opening day in North America before crossing the $500 million in the market in its eighth weekend.
Disney noted that “Zootopia” is the second highest grossing Walt Disney Animation Studios release of all time in its original release after “Frozen,” and the third-biggest overall after “Frozen” and “The Lion King.” It’s also Disney’s sixth-biggest animated release of all time and the industry’s fifth-biggest original animated film ever.

When is TGJ going to stop acting like these animated films success (or lack, when they flop) is due the “celebrities” that lend their voices to the characters? It´s just so not how it works. Stop it.
Girl bye! You think they paid Idris for nothing? You are just salty and it’s so sad. These Hollywood studios wouldn’t pay the actors what they do if they didn’t think they could make money for the movie.
You are crazy if you think parents take their children to these animated movies because anyone (insert the name you want) lent their voice for the film. You are totally crazy. Of course they pay them, it´s an important job to take. Has nothing to do with the success or lack of success of these films. Which was the point. Now bye and educate yourself about films. In this case, judging by your name you are just a Shakira fan that want to make this seem like more important than it is, like how Rihanna fans did with that home film or Beyonce fans with the one Beyonce participated in. Just no, it doesn´t work like that.

I hope those people buy her albums and her tour tickets. Singer actually earn more than all those Hollywood actors. So even if it grossed 1 billion, you’ll never saw them on Forbes List. Ask Idina Menzel or Chris Hemsworth or Jennifer Lawrence. Those in the top 5 are usually singers like Beyoncé, Talk show host like Ellen, Oprah and basketball player.
^^^thats becuz actorz are usually paid on a SET RATE like $1 million per film or $10 million per film etc upfront regardless of gross. Budget >>> gross.

What’s a Shakiro?
This is great. Animated movies are slaying for dear life. I see Shakira’s song is finally making some healthy gain on the Hot 100. It’s nice to see her on her way to a hit again, but I wish Idris recorded a song just for fun.
Lol.I must be loving under a rock because this is the first time I’ve heard of this film. Anyway congrats to all involved.
