In the mood for another edition of Retro Rewind? Of course you are.

Today, we hit the number 1995 into our time machine as it is the year Halle Berry and Jimmy Smits released the television movie ‘Solomon & Sheba’ to offer the world a fresh look at the Biblical story.

In it, Berry portrays the Yemeni Sheba alongside Smits who plays Solomon with help from Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Nadia Sawahla and Hugh Quarshie.

As widely reported, the nominations for the 2019 Grammys were unveiled yesterday and were hailed by many for being the most the diverse in a decade.

Yet, as is customary, there were a number of shut-outs that left certain acts and their fans fuming.

Such was the case for R&B siren Teyana Taylor.

After years of push-backs (due to label drama and buzz building), the singer’s sophomore album ‘K.T.S.E’ (‘Keep That Same Energy’) finally arrived in June. The set formed part of Kanye West‘s G.O.O.D Music slate of releases – and, as such, was subject to the grating delays and confusion that defined each of the projects he helmed. Many of which ended up not arriving on time, yielded no music videos, and never scored a physical release.

In a candid conversations with fans, Taylor cites the roll-out as one of the causes of the LP’s snub, along with popularity politics.

Here at That Grape Juice, we’re always on the look-out for new and exciting talent. Case in point Alex Parvenu.

Hailing from London, the soul-filled singer has been drumming up all sorts of buzz on the live circuit and has received early nods from the likes of Tom Elmhirst (Amy Winehouse, Adele) and Fugees hitmaker Jerry Wonder.

Now the rising star is aiming to beam into mass consciousness with official impact single ‘It Wasn’t Me.’

Boasting a skillset that is multi-tiered, Parvenu not only wrote and produced the jam – he directed its animated video.

Featuring “appearances” from a number of notable faces, the star-studded clip puts a satirical spin on the song’s narrative which he explained as such:

“It’s every dad’s worst nightmare when their beloved daughter brings home their boyfriend. In that moment, one forgets that they too were once in the same position as ‘the boyfriend’.”

Ella Mai was all smiles this morning on ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ after she learned about not one, but two Grammy nominations to honor work found aboard her self-titled debut album.

Nabbing a nod in the ‘Best R&B Song’ and ‘Song of the Year’ categories respectively for her breakout hit ‘Boo’d Up,’ Mai – prepping for the kick off of her 2019 world tour (click here for dates) – gave fans a taste of what they can expect to see when she hits the road at the top of the year.

As embattled comedian Kevin Hart continues to bear the brunt of backlash after his old anti-LGBT tweets resurfaced (as we reported here), the ‘Night School’ star is learning he still has a wealth of supporters.

One big named defender Hart has in his corner is none other than the “Doggfather” Snoop Dogg.  In an expletive-laden message to the funnyman, Dogg lent some advice on how to deal with detractors and the film Academy.

If that wasn’t enough, he also threw in a dig at the Recording Academy for earning 17 nominations in his storied rap career (yet no wins).  Hear Snoop sound off inside:

Eminem has dropped the dark new video for his latest single ‘Good Guy’ featuring Jessie Reyez.

The ever controversial performer is renown for speaking his mind, breaking boundaries, and delivering the unexpected. Case in point with this clip.

Skewing cinematic, the vid sees a vengeful Reyez engage in a struggle with Slim Shady before ending him. Literally.
