With summer here, so too is one of music’s biggest calendar nights – the BET Awards 2018!

And while the show has historically played host to many a major name, none have been more synonymous with the extravaganza than Beyonce.

So, as we await word on whether Queen Bey and hubby Jay-Z will surprise us with a performance during tonight’s festivities (you know, new album and all), we take it back 15 years to Mrs Carter’s first solo BET “moment.”

At the 2003 ceremony, a then rising Bey gave a rousing rendition of her breakthrough smash ‘Crazy In Love’ – the first single from her debut ‘Dangerously In Love.’ An album celebrating its 15th anniversary this very week.

In now-trademark Beyonce fashion, the showing was high octane and flaunted the fire that inhabited the luminous star. Reenacting much of the iconic choreography from the track’s video, the entertainer had the whole audience on their feet, including Destiny’s Child alumnae Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, as well as sister Solange.

Oh how far has Yonce come! Ironically, she already possessed all the qualities the world loves her for. What’s so incredible is how she has managed to polish and perfect them over the years while retaining that raw potency.

It’s been an incredible 15 years for the mother-of-three and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next 15.

Your thoughts?

With the first week sales tally due imminently, Beyonce and Jay-Z prove that they’ve got their eye on longevity with new album ‘Everything Is Love.’

Unleashed last Saturday at the culmination of their ‘On The Run II’ London stop, the “surprise” LP has been creating waves all week for a multitude of reasons – most especially its roll-out.

For, while it’s been customary for Bey and Jay to limit the streaming component of recent albums to their TIDAL platform, they’ve opted to play ball with rival services. Hence, this go round, ‘Everything’ was a TIDAL exclusive for little over a day before “going wide” on iTunes, Apple Music, and the premium paid tier of Spotify.

The latter was was particularly noteworthy given the platform’s spot as market leader.

Still, in asserting that only paid listeners could access, it created a somewhat complex issue for the Carters. Because, while yes they were on Spotify, most users access via the free ad-supported tier. Put simply, they couldn’t get in on the fun.

Until today.

‘Good Man,’ the seventh official LP from R&B crooner Ne-Yo, may be the first project of his prized discography to miss the top 10 upon its debut (click here to read more), but that certainly hasn’t stopped Grammy-winner from showing off some of its gems on the promo trail.

Limiting most of its promo to radio, print, and online to date, the 38-year-old took to the late night circuit courtesy of a visit to ‘Jimmy Kimmel’ this week to give televised performances of new tunes ‘Push Back,’ ‘Apology,’ and ‘Nights Like These.’

Teyana Taylor‘s new album ‘K.T.S.E’ is finally here!

The hotly anticipated set is the latest release to be executive produced by Kanye West and issued via his G.O.O.D Music imprint. It’s also the latest to be delayed past its initial due date.

Set for arrival yesterday (June 22nd),  fine-tuning courtesy of Kanye has held up affairs – despite the LP being launched with an elaborate release party. A predicament Kid Cudi, Pusha T, and Nas all found themselves in with their Ye affiliated offerings.

In any case, as the age old adage goes, better late than not.

Moments ago, the album (the title of which is an acronym for ‘Keep That Same Energy’), landed on streaming and retail platforms.

Interestingly, Taylor breaks the 7-track “rule” with the 8-track collection. So what are you waiting for? Listen below…

As a songwriter and performer, R&B crooner Ne-Yo‘s run of back-to-back hits in the noughties almost knew no equal.  Debuting atop the Billboard 200 with his debut LP, ‘In My Own Words’ (2006), his presence on the album charts in the decade that followed – despite varying degrees of success – still saw each of the 5 projects that succeeded ‘Words’ premiere in the tally’s top 10.

His latest effort, ‘Good Man’ (released June 8th), is unfortunately unable to boast the same.

Kicked off by a number of teaser tunes before seeing its title track and the Bebe Rexha/Stefflon Don-assisted ‘Push Back’ named its official launching singles, the effort admittedly went to chart battle with little fanfare – especially compared to antecedent albums.

That absent buzz, coupled in a week dominated by news surrounding the releases of Dave Matthews Band and Kid Cudi & Kanye West‘s first joint album respectively, saw ‘Good Man’ pushed back to a much lower entry point on the Billboard 200.  Its debut not only comes as Ne-yo’s first project to miss the top 10 upon its release, but the entire top 30!
