Armed with the momentum of the Super Bowl and Coachella, Lady Gaga kicked off the ‘Joanne World Tour’ in fine fashion last night.

The superstar songstress launched the global trek in Vancouver, Canada and reviews thus far have been potently positive.

Mounted in support of Mother Monster’s fifth album ‘Joanne,’ the mammoth arena + stadium showcase sees the singer perform much loved hits such as ‘Bad Romance’ and ‘Telephone’ as well as newer numbers like ‘The Cure’ and ‘Million Reasons.’

With Gaga having sold 820k of ‘Joanne’ Stateside and the show running right through to December, it’s safe to say more success awaits the era. Namely plaques and box office certs.

Grace Jones’ life story is to be retold via the documentary  ‘Grace Jones: Bloodlight & Bami’the very first comprehensive film to examine the icon’s past.

Production on the release kicked off five years ago and hopes to introduce viewers to a version of Grace they’ve never seen before via footage pulled from interviews, performances and moments prised from her colourful private life.

Its director  Sophie Fiennes shares…

This film began in a collaborative creative spirit. Grace had fiercely controlled her public image, but made the bold decision to un-mask. She never sought to control my shooting process, and I didn’t second-guess the narrative of the film as I was shooting. I just gathered evidence. The film is a deliberately present-tense experience; for me this is the thrill-ride of verité cinema.

Keep it locked on TGJ for details on its release date.

Holistically, Mariah Carey is renown for being one of the greatest voices of all time.

And while recent showings have called her present day capabilities into question, it hasn’t stopped folk from going to see her in Las Vegas and as an opener a special guest on Lionel Richie‘s ‘All The Hits Tour.’

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight to promote the trek, the 47-year-old opened up about how she conditions her voice.

Let’s just say it’s rather…unorthodox.

Recent studies carried out on American citizens revealed that the many view African-American girls as troublesome and far less innocent than their white counterparts.

With this harrowing thought in mind the beauty giant Procter and Gamble teamed up with its ‘My Black is Beautiful’ partners to address the African-American experience via an ad named ‘The Talk.’

In it, viewers are taken through several decades and observe as black parents are forced to give their children “the talk” they hope will shield them against subtle and shameless racism.

Watch below…

Our goal with ‘The Talk’ is to help raise awareness about the impact of bias. We are also hopeful that we can make progress toward a less biased future by recognizing the power of people of all backgrounds and races showing up for one another.

Alas, the ad’s powerful message has been slammed by some groups who claim it is racist.

Kanye West hit headlines last November when he abruptly pulled the plug on his ‘Saint Pablo Tour.’

Already marred by the fact that lengthy rants had begun to replace songs, the last straw came when the rapper walked off stage in San Jose after just four songs.

Shortly after, Ye was hospitalized at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Hospital Center after suffering what was reported as a “psychological breakdown.”

However, it appears that’s being called into question by his insurers and he’s not happy.

As a Pop purveyor Rihanna is the envy of many of her peers.

Alas, the performer hasn’t had much luck as far as films are concerned. For, after watching ‘Battleship’ sink, the entertainer has learned that her latest movie project ‘Valerian and the City of Thousand Planets’ has done the same.

Billed a box office bomb by ‘Deadline‘, ‘Planets’ was built on a budget of $177 million but, by way of its failure to recoup this, has been written off by critics as a flop after earning only $59.9 million worldwide.

Movie insiders reveal that it will need to generate $350 million to break-even and is unlikely to secure a sequel as its producers seek to cut their losses.

‘Deadline’ explains…

It now has the potential of becoming one of the most expensive flops. The film stars Dane DeHaan, Cara Delevingne, Clive Owen, Rihanna, Kris Wu, John Goodman and Ethan Hawke, and is based on the Valerian And Laureline comic Besson revered as a child.

With this is mind, we ask…

Why do you think the movie tanked?

Fat Joe may very well have summer jam on his hands.

The Hip-Hop veteran premiered new single ‘So Excited’ moments ago and it’s making all the right waves.

Produced by Streetrunner, the cut features Dre (from duo Cool & Dre) and finds Joey Crack The Don in fine form.

Its arrival comes on the heels of his Grammy nomination for ‘All The Way Up’ with Remy Ma.

Now back on his solo hustle following the release of their joint LP ‘Plata O Plomo,’ Joe is proving he still can still bring the fire on his own accord.

Mariah Carey‘s role as Lionel Ritchie‘s new opening act saw her touch down in Anaheim hours ago to storm its good people with the ‘All the Hits Tour.’

Rocked by a wave of negative press garnered by her occasionally “relaxed” performance style, the entertainer wowed fans with a moving performance of her number ‘My All.’

A stunning new arrangement of the cut made it one of the night’s strongest performances.

How Carey fared vocally?

Watch below…

Though far from perfect, Carey’s vocal performance on the night proved that she stands miles ahead of her peers (old and new) vocally…even at her worst.

Here’s hoping she delivers more of the same on the tour fans are hoping will support her next studio album.
