Mariah Carey Prepares For Christmas Album

As reported a few weeks ago, Mariah Carey has returned to the studio to work on a new album. The news encouraged a wave of speculation among her fans as many wondered whether she was indeed working on a new studio album or a Christmas album as the decision regarding which project the diva will be undertaking was yet to be finalised by her management. However, according to MariahDaily, famed photographer David LaChapelle has confirmed that Carey is in fact working on a Christmas album.

Nevertheless, LaChapelle’s news does not mean that Carey may not be working on both a Christmas project and a new studio album as well. Having entered the studio with Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, Johnta Austin, Teddy Riley and now Randy Jackson, a studio LP seems to be a strong possibility. Possible release dates for the project(s) have yet to be scheduled.

Mariah Carey, Jermaine Dupri & B. Cox Continue Work On New Album

Check out some new footage of Mariah Carey, Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox in the studio. The trio are still in the early stages of creating Carey’s next studio release which has yet to be given a projected release date. Last evening, Dupri contacted noted producer Teddy Riley via Twitter who expressed interest in working on the LP. Riley, who has never previously worked with Carey, is best known for his work on Whitney Houston’s ‘Step by Step’, Michael Jackson’s ‘Remember The Time’ and Lady GaGa’s ‘Teeth’. {Source}

This is exactly what Carey needs. By working with producers that she has never collaborated with before, she will be able to create a fresh sound for her music and regain that artistic edge that separate her from the pack of her imitators. Hopefully, Carey will take herself to new places with this project and find the hit that she now desperately needs.

Video: Mariah Carey, Jermaine Dupri & B. Cox In The Studio

Earlier today Mariah Carey and long-time collaborators Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox revealed to the diva’s legion of lambs that they have reunited in the studio to start work on a new studio album. Now, footage from their time together in the booth has popped up. The trio noted that they have only just begun the songwriting process and have yet to create any tracks. Mariah Carey & Jermaine Dupri Reunite For New Album

Mariah Carey isn’t going to let the low sales of her ‘Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel’ slow her down. The icon has actually returned to the studio. However, this time Carey has put her ‘Memoirs…’ collaborators, The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, on pause and reunited with her long-time friend, songwriter/producer Jermaine Dupri. The duo, who created many of Carey’s biggest hits including Billboard’s ‘Song of the Decade’, ‘We Belong Together’, tweeted from the studio about the news which can be seen below:

Janet Jackson: “I’m Not Working On An Album”

The iconic Janet Jackson has been at the centre of media attention during the last few weeks while promoting her new film ‘Why Did I Get Married Too?’. Of even greater interest to her legions of fans is her new song, ‘Nothing’, which was released to support the movie. However, despite enjoying the limelight from both projects, Jackson has revealed to Rolling Stone that she has not taken things a step further by recording a new studio album or even signing to a new label. Janet’s New Single To Premiere March 30th

Those awaiting Janet Jackson‘s new single ‘Nothing’ can breathe a sigh of relief, as the song – the first offering from the ‘Why Did I Get Married Too’ soundtrack – has a confirmed debut date of March 30th.

The news comes via the song’s producer, Janet’s partner-turned-friend, Jermaine Dupri, who made the the announcement a few moments ago on Twitter.

Reliable word has it that the delay of the song’s debut was due to paper-work needing to be signed-off by its producers JD and Bryan Michael Cox (the song apparently features a sample). In any case, roll on March 30th…

Janet To Perform On Oprah; New Song Possibly Due Next Week

It has been confirmed that Pop icon Janet Jackson will appear on an upcoming episode The Oprah Winfrey Show. The singer, 43, will be appearing along with Tyler Perry to promote their new movie ‘Why Did I Get Married Too’, which is set to hit theatres on April 2nd.

What’s more, there is reliable word that Jackson will be performing new single ‘Nothing‘ on the show; a Jermaine Dupri produced song which serves as the centre-piece of the film’s its soundtrack.

As at writing, the episode is set to be filmed shortly, and will air during the last week of March – a few days prior to the movie’s theatrical release.

New Video: Mariah Carey – ’100%’

Mariah Carey‘s ’100%’, which was featured on the ‘Precious’ movie soundtrack, is also being used to promote the 2010 Winter Olympics and severs as the centre piece of the AT&T Team USA Soundtrack. The video for the Jermaine Dupri produced cut premièred a few moments ago. Check it out above…

Pretty standard peformance-esque video, with purposeful footage inter-woven. It does help that the song is one of the best things I’ve heard from Mariah in a long while, though (not that that’s saying a whole lot). Still, a good effort.
