Tracklisting: Justin Timberlake Taps Ariana Grande & Gwen Stefani For ‘Trolls’ Soundtrack

Already boasting a #1 hit on the Hot 100 [‘Can’t Stop the Feeling’] months before its September 23rd release, the Justin Timberlake-led ‘Trolls’ official motion picture soundtrack has high expectations from music lovers.  But, if the set’s star-studded tracklisting is anything to go by, it will most likely meet and exceed them.

Timberlake, who not only executive produced the project but is also featured on 7 of its 13 tracks, is bringing along a few other beloved pop figures for the ride including ‘Trolls’ co-star Gwen Stefani, Ariana Grande, and many more.

Chart Check [Billboard 200]: ‘Suicide Squad’ Soundtrack Nabs 2nd Week At #1

If you thought the ‘Suicide Squad’s grip on the top of the Billboard 200 was loosening, you thought wrong.  Despite earning some stiff competition from new releases from the likes of Rae Sremmurd and PARTYNEXTDOOR and top 10 mainstays Drake, Rihanna, and Adele, the film’s soundtrack is holding firm to the album chart’s #1 position.

Billboard reports:

The Suicide Squad soundtrack holds at No. 1 for a second week on the Billboard 200 chart…

Suicide Squad earned 93,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Aug. 18, according to Nielsen Music (down 49 percent), with 50,000 of that sum comprised of traditional album sales (down 61 percent).

Chart Check [Hot 100]: Sia Slips Out of Top Spot After 4 Weeks

Chandelier’ chanteuse Sia swung to the top of the Hot 100 last month with her inaugural chart-leader ‘Cheap Thrills’ (featuring island-hitmaker Sean Paul).

Dethroning Drake‘s longstanding reign with ‘One Dance,’ the Caribbean-inspired ‘thrills’ not only lifted the powerhouse vocalist to the top, but kept her there for four consecutive weeks.

Singer Now Set For Huge Pay Day

Frank Ocean is full of surprises.

The singer’s name has been a staple in the music sphere this week following the unannounced release of two albums – visual LP ‘Endless’ and sophomore effort ‘Blonde.’ 

Per projections, the latter is on course to not only open at #1 on the Billboard 200, but double the sales of its predecessor (2012’s ‘Channel Orange’) in the process.

Jussie Smollett Spills On Duetting With Mariah Carey On ‘Empire’

As reported, the singer leads the list of major names guest starring on the upcoming third season of the FOX music drama.

The seasoned diva will play Kitty, a singer who comes to the Lyon-led label to duet with Jamal (played by Jussie Smollett).

Forget the Olympics! The race between streaming platforms to best the competition has been most compelling.

Indeed, with streaming rapidly becoming the primary means of music consumption, platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify, and TIDAL routinely churn out exclusives to one-up each other.

This year alone has seen major examples manifest in the form album launches by Beyonce, Drake, and Rihanna. All of which had an “exclusive” streaming component.

The landscape may be set for its most drastic change yet, though, if a new report proves true.

Will You Support Nate Parker’s ‘Birth of a Nation’?

In 1915, the release of the deeply racist and violent ‘Birth of a Nation’ precipitated a rise in physical attacks against African-Americans and support for the murderous Ku Klux Klan.

On October 6th 2016, Fox Searchlight Pictures seeks to cast the movie’s evils into cinematic darkness with the release of ‘The Birth of a Nation’, a movie depicting the tale of a slave uprising led by Nat Turner.

Alas, historic allegations made against its star and producer threatened to derail the movie’s run at the box office.
