New Song: Whitney Houston – ‘Million Dollar Bill’ (First Single)

Published: Thursday 6th Aug 2009 by Sam
Whitney Houston’s much anticipated comeback single ‘Million Dollar Bill’ made its debut in full a few hours ago to much fanfare. True to this site’s stance on not sugar-coating ish or jumping on hype without reason, I must say I’m honestly a little disappointed with this.
As much I wanted to like the record, particularly in light of the hype the listening session reports created around it, I felt short-changed upon hearing the track for myself. Dated, a lil cheesy and not really lead single material, this doesn’t scream ‘I’m back!’ at all IMO. While it may end up being a grower, a single with so much riding on it really shouldn’t have to be a ‘grower’. In as much as we’re rooting for Whitney, sometimes you just have to call it as it is…
On the up side, Whitney probably sounds the best she has on ”Bill’ than she does on any of the tracks we’ve heard from her ‘I Look To You’ album thus far.
