With her upcoming ‘Pulse’ album ready to be released on May 4th, Toni Braxton has teamed up with an unexpected person on a new track from the LP. The song, ‘Caught (Don’t Take Your Hat Off)’, features none other than Golden Globe Award-winning actress Mo’Nique, who offered a touch of spoken-word comedy to the mellow track. The record is said to have been influenced by Oran ‘Juice’ Jones’ 1986 single ‘The Rain’. Check out ‘Caught (Don’t Take Your Hat Off)’ below:
Although I failed to get the humour in Mo’Nique’s contribution, there is no denying that this song is a stone groove winner. Vocally, Braxton displays the very best of her husky contralto without losing an ounce of her signature sex appeal. Certainly not a major contender for radio release but a strong album track nonetheless.
