In a recent interview with the NY Daily News, former ‘it’ girl Jennifer Lopez revealed that her ‘Love?’ LP will hit stores at the end of the summer. Jenny from the block, who was released from her record deal with Epic Records earlier this year and then quickly signed by LA Reid to Island Def Jam, is currently revamping the tumultuous album. Check out what Lopez had to say below:
Let’s talk about your split with Sony. Was it friendly?
Totally. We knew some people would try to paint a negative picture, but the split wasn’t negative at all. I gave them seven albums and fulfi lled my contract, and had tremendous successes — over 40 million records. It was time for something new, a fresh start.
It was hard to leave — Sony Epic was my whole history. But in my heart, I knew it was time, and that maybe a fresh team and fresh blood were what was required. All the people I’d worked with at Sony were gone; it was all new people I had no history with.
At Island Def Jam, we’re going to work on finishing this album. Stuff I’d been performing here and there will be on it, the dance cuts previously released. And new stuff. We’re aiming for end of summer, but it’ll be when it’s ready. {Source}
At this point the most pressing question is undoubtedly: who cares? It’s rather amusing that Lopez referred to her ill-fated ‘Louboutins’ single as “stuff I’d been performing here and there.” She seems to be trying to sweep her immense failure under the rug; hoping that no one would notice. However, the string of major promotional appearances that she made during the last few months makes that a near impossibility. On the other hand, judging by the fact that no one has taken the time to request any of Lopez’s material since 2007, she may be easier to forget than I thought.
