Christina Aguilera Relies On Technology For ‘Bionic’ MTV Performance

Published: Monday 7th Jun 2010 by Trent

Christina Aguilera hit stage at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards this evening. The singer mimed performed a medley of new material from her upcoming ‘Bionic’ LP (which hits stores on June 8th) including the title track, ‘Not Myself Tonight’ and ‘Woo Hoo’. Check out the footage below:

The only thing that could have made that performance better was if Aguilera sang more of it live. Brilliant choreography and stage setup aside, the main attraction of the performance – Aguilera’s voice – was primarily heard emanating from the pre-recorded tracks and not from her throat, especially during ‘Bionic’. For a singer who prides herself on constantly reminding us about how talented she is, Aguilera blatantly avoided most of the difficult notes, with a loud backtrack picking up the slack. Either way, when she did decide to sing live she sounded great. Do better Aguilera.
