Former Danity Kane star Aubrey O’Day will be returning to screens this year with her new Oxygen reality series – ‘The Aubrey O’Day Project’.
Full story after the jump…
According to The Hollywood Reporter, O’Day signed a lucrative deal with the network to collaborate on the series, which will “chronicle her attempt to make a comeback in the music industry while working with a demanding team of industry professionals”.
Speaking on the show, Oxygen’s senior VP of Original Programming Amy Introcaso-Davis said:
“Young women have watched the ups and downs of Aubrey through the years (on MTV’s Making The Band), and they continue to cheer her on. We’re excited to deliver her story as she battles the issues that resonate with our audience, from self-doubt and body image to an intense desire for success and redemption.”
Hmm. I’ve long gone back-and-forth on my take on Aubrey. Having initially been drawn to her vivacious, no BS nature, Diddy’s ‘you’re on a path to nowhere’ sound-bite seems like it had some truth to it. For, while Ms. O’Day has had some success on the Broadway circuit, she’s more notable these days for her ass-ets than her talent. A shame, as she actually showed much potential when first starting out in Danity Kane (until she started believing her own hype). One can only hope, the show re-focuses the spotlight on her talent – although I wouldn’t hold my breath. Either way she has an uphill struggle ahead of her, if being taken seriously is what she is on the hunt for (see: Playboy, Barbie gimmick, plastic surgery).
