Drake Cancels European Tour Due To Mother’s Surgery

Published: Friday 2nd Jul 2010 by Sam

Many of Drake‘s European fans were disappointed this week  when it was announced that the European leg of his ‘Away From Home Tour’, was postponed.

Addressing the matter in a statement today, though, the Young Money star revealed that he pushed for a delay in the tour due to the fact his mother is set to undergoing urgent surgery.

His statement and details on the scheduled dates the  after the jump…

“Despite my best hopes, it is apparent that my mother will need surgery earlier than anticipated.

In light of this news, I have made the difficult decision to cancel my European tour in order to support her during her recovery, just as she supported me through the years. I cannot thank my European fans enough and look forward to performing abroad soon. I ask everyone to please respect my family’s privacy during this time.”

Initially set to commence today in Norway (with stops in London and Paris), the tour has been rescheduled to November. Meanwhile, Drake’s trek of his native Canada remains unaffected – with his first show there taking place on July 16th.
