The ‘Superstar’ singer, who parted ways with EMI in 2007, signed the deal live on UStream watched by fans.
In her management’s offices, Jamelia said it was a “very exciting day for me” and added that she “wanted to share it with my fans”.
The 29-year-old was emotional as she signed the deal in front of the management team and her two children. Who the deal is with remains unknown.
“Obviously this is really really exciting for me,” she said. “Let the games begin!”
Last month the singer confirmed that she would shoot a video for her new single as soon as the deal was signed.
While Jamelia remains coy about her new recording home, That Grape Juice can exclusively reveal that the Birmingham-bred star signed the lucrative deal with a MAJOR label – one who are putting much in the way of £££ and marketing muscle behind the project to ensure its success. Hold tight for a ‘formal announcement’ shortly.
It’ll be really interesting to see how Jamelia fits into the current musical landscape, upon her return. For, in her absence, the likes of Alexandra Burke and Alesha Dixon, have established themselves on the UK music scene – releasing music not dissimilar to the sound Jamelia was renown for.
In any case, the ‘Money’ singer remains one of the UK’s most successful contemporary R&B/Pop females – boasting multi-Platinum album sales. Hence, it’s great to have her back to shake up the scene somewhat. Here’s hoping her material is actually good.
