Diva Jennifer Lopez will be making a return to the music scene much earlier than anticipated. Following her departure from long-time label Epic, which was followed by her swift signing to Island Def Jam, a “late 2010” release window had been announced as the frame in which to expect new Lopez material.
However, it has been revealed today that the 40 year old mother of two is set to feature in Taio Cruz‘s video for new single ‘Dynamite’, which has been remixed to include vocals from her too.
More after the jump…
As per All Headline News…
It all started when Taio Cruz tweeted and then subsequently removed, “Would you guys prefer a ‘Dynamite’ video featuring just me or a version with a massive female star duetting?”
If the answer is Jennifer Lopez, then yes. Lopez, who recently killed performances at the World Music Awards and the MTV Movie Awards, became the female star in question, after dancers let slip that they were cast in a music video for Cruz and his new Island/Def Jam labelmate Lopez.
Choreographers and frequent Lopez collaborators Napoleon and Tabitha, or Nappytabs, also revealed that they’re set to work on Lopez’s new video.
The track is Cruz’s single “Dynamite,” which is already #3 on iTunes behind Eminem and Katy Perry’s latest. Cruz will release a Part 2 of the already chart-busting single featuring Lopez.
This is no doubt brilliant strategy on the part of Island Def Jam. It went without saying that any team handling the former chart-topper would have an uphill struggle trying to re-establish her relevancy in the contemporary music scape. After all, folk just weren’t gravitating to her as they once did (see: ‘Louboutins’, ‘Fresh Out The Oven’, and her other blink-or-you-miss-it releases of late). Hence, tacking her on to a song which is already a hit, not only guarantees her airplay, it also ensures her heightened relevancy. It’s also a particularly good look for Taio – whose long-term chart prospects would benefit greatly from a collaboration of such maginitude.
Now, all Ms. Jenny From The Block needs to do is serve up is a killer dance break in the video and I’m won LOL.
