ugh… i have such a like/hate relationship with gaga, i guess i like the REAL gaga which there were glinses of.
I thought her performance of “Someone to watch over me” was really good and closer to the real her and she does have a voice that reminds me of Judy Garland or Liza. I also liked her performance of “you & i” even though it sounds a lot like “brown eyes” and she said her new stuff was completely different and a social phenominon or some such garbage.
“bad romance” was an ok performance but for me “Alejandro” was kinda lame, she cannot do a spanish accent it sounds like a Russian accent and makes it annoying.
I will however say that her performance of “teeth” was amazing she killed it with that

Know your facts before you comment on Beyonce. She performed in the rain during a 2 hours set for the 2008 Bermuda Music Festival……..I would know because I was there.

If you don’t want to buy into the ‘philosophy’ don’t – just enjoy the music. As far as the stealing everyone else’s image she’s no more guilty of that than anyone else and its amazing to hear people claim that she’s ripped off their favourite artist all in the same performance – how on earth could she imitate Madonna, Grace Jones, Xtina, Blondie, Robyn, Roisin Murphy, Ace of Base etc etc all in the same performance – people are just looking for things to claim – oh she’s copying so and so. There are lots of influences in her work, but that’s different to blatant copying. Was Xtina copying MIA or Sia on Bionic?, of course not, but the music was influenced by them. Was Xtina copying Bad Romance in the NMT video, of course not even though there were several similar elements in the 2 videos.

I had to turn that S*** off after TRYING to watch her perform that HOT ASS MESS that is teeth. Sorry Trent but ‘Bad Romance & ‘Alejandro’ isnt what you call a MEGA HIT. A MEGA HIT is a #1 song with a HUGE IMPACT (Ex. Just Dance, Poker Face, Single Ladies, Umbrella). But any way. Bad Romance is a nice enough song but Alejandro & Teeth are both HORRIBLE, eww. Im sick of her OVER RATED ASS, shes no better than KATTY PERRY. & can only HALF ASS Sing & HALF ASS Dance & shes a SNOOZE-FEST performer. Shes hardly talented even with her little piano. I commend her for her Imagery, creativity, & song writing but Its all over shadowed to me by her Sluttiness hes no more than a circus freak & her music lacks ALL SUBSTANCE not to mention she copies off Madonna (who also TRASH BTW). Way OVER RATED.

@ALEXANDERTG i didn’t mean she ripped them all off in this one show i meant over the course of her 2yr career. TBH i used to be a massive fan of hers when she first came out but her “act” and constant attention whoring puts me off and the way she lets PerezHilton trash everybody in her name.
I Still like most of her earlier singles up to bad Romance but t me the albums as a hole sound like same same.

Sorry, you got me wrong – I wasn’t saying that YOU were saying she’d copied all of these in the one performance, but rather various people on blogs had claimed she’d been copying Madonna lets say at the same time as someone else said she’d been copying Xtina during the same performance etc etc.
True Perez is always way over the top, but the key thing here is have you ever heard Gaga herself trashing another artist? Gaga isn’t responsible for him any more than Xtina is responsible for some of her crazier stans and what they have to say.
You say that the Gaga we see now was made by a record company – can’t agree on this one – she started the transition from Stefani to Gaga before even the Def Jam signing – remember the reason they dumped her was they thought she was just way too weird. Plus remember it was her that fought with Interscope to get The Fame Monster made available as a single CD and also to release Alejandro as the single after Telephone. Plus as time goes on she’ll be able to go more and more along her own path. Remember she’s only been on the scene for 2 years – think back to how controlled Xtina was by her label in 2001 – but because of the success of the first album she was able to control things more and so we ended up with Stripped which was much more ‘her’.
Of course you’re entitled to your opinion re the music, but you say that you liked the singles up to Bad Romance – doesn’t that suggest that the music on Fame Monster isn’t the same as on the Fame?

It sold 4 million copies in the US by digital download – so that’s real sales not shipments. The attention and opportunities that she has got are down to one simple fact – hunger – she had and has a greater desire to succeed than the opposition – just look at the crazy tour schedule that she’s been on. Touring takes a lot out of you even when you tour for just a couple of months – to be able to go on for as long as she has shows a great work ethic.

OK … I’m calm…if I was OTT then sorry OK, BF away till tomorrow so a bit grumpy OK. To be honest I’ve never thought of myself as a Gaga stan, a fan yes but not a stan – I definitely wouldn’t call myself a ‘little monster’. If you look in any of the other threads you’ll see I’ve stood up for other artists I think have been criticized unfairly such as Eminem, Xtina and RiRi. I’m into Madonna as well as my mum’s always been a fan – so I’ve grown up listening to her music too. And no despite being born in 86 and being a Stefi, I’m not her – think she’d be way too busy to start blogging. Fact is I just admire her for the drive that she’s got and the way she didn’t give up when everyone was saying she wasn’t pretty enough or talented enough to make it and she’s also got that ‘if you don’t like what I do just f-off attitude like Xtina’ which I wish I had a bit of at times – plus of course I genuinely like her music. OK enough rambling on as I need to go and write some stuff about Prince.
I just wish the f**king Gaga a**licker would stop posting comments back and forth on this damn post. WTF? Do you not have a life? I can’t stand Gaga, because she’s EXTREMLY manufactured, over sexed, a gimmick, and doesn’t have that great of a voice. I will say that these were probably the best and most CLEAN performances that I’ve seen from her.
I won’t say that’s she’s amazingly talented because if people look close enough and realize the “beauty” of stage tricks, they would know that what really makes this performance pop are the beautiful white stage, clean white outfits, the grand piano, and the cool smoke. Her voice sucks! She sounds like a drunk jazz singer. It’s not that she can’t sing… she just sings badly.
I really don’t like the sound of her voice and her notes were very flat. I did like how she was finally covered up and dressed like a grown woman but as we all know, she wouldn’t been able to perform like how she usually does on channels/tv shows like this. She has a lot of energy and stage presence, but she just makes a fool out of her self. Her jumping around and moving her arms and legs isn’t what you call a damn good dancer. She can’t dance whatsoever, anybody can do that.
The reason why she probably gets so much praise is because she’s one of the few singers who actually sings live and tries to dance. I’ll give her credit for singing live unlike Britney and JANET JACKSON, but I’m not impressed.

Well, Janet Jackson was shite when she started out trying to song and dance at the smae time. She had to learn to do it, over years. Let GaGa have her time, and to be perfectly honest, Janet’s voice is tissue; GaGa’s is much stronger.
As for me, the cover of ‘Someone To Watch Over Me’ blending into a very jazzy ‘Bad Romance’ was beautiful. ‘Alejandro’s performance was good as it got closer to the crescendo at the end, and ‘Teeth’ was faultless.
That’s how it’s done.
