I voted for her to win a singer competition. Nothing more, nothing less. People are making such a big deal out of this when, in reality, nobody is perfect. We all make mistakes and do things other people wouldn’t approve of. But we grow and learn. Fantasia is a normal person just like everyone else.

I don’t buy this role model nonsense, I think parents should raise their kids and be the primary role models in their children’s lives. Unless a celebrity puts themselves in the position of a role model with their own words, it’s not a job we should force upon them. Entertainers are here to entertain. They’re not preachers or politicians, and it is stupid to expect them to be moral compasses when we all know damn well that showbiz isn’t exactly a place that’s chock-full of morality.

@ True Blue…using the word ”role model” for a celebrity like Tasia doesn’t particularly meant for everybody. I was actually referring to the hard-core fans out there that would do anything to be like Tasia. These people could come from all sort of ages including grown up hence the word ‘role model’.
Come to think of it you have no idea how my cousin idolised Tasia and how disappointed she was to discover what has been gong on with her laterly.
Brandy is my role model in music hence I wasn’t exactly pleased with some of the choices she’d made in life. Other people look up to the likes of Britney, Whitney, JLO, MJ, Mariah as their role model in music which they look up to as a source of inspiration when need be hence if I use the word ‘ROLE MODEL’ for Tasia I don’t suppose I’m beating about the bush (if you know what I mean).
Maybe you don’t accept any entertainer as a role model however doesn’t mean every else does.

If someone is your role model strictly in the entertainment sense and not in the personal sense, then what they do in their personal life shouldn’t affect that. Many musicians are far from being good role models in the personal sense, but they have many fans who idolize them for their talent, and just that. If I were to stop listening to someone’s music because of the bad decisions they made in their lives, then I wouldn’t be able to listen to any music at all.
And I didn’t twist your words at all. You did mention that Fantasia had children looking up to her, and that her actions could cause a serious backlash. That’s why I had to mention that parents should be the ultimate guide in the decisions that their children make, not celebrities.

First of all we all individual and they way you handle a situation doesn’t applies everyone else hence please stop wasting my time cuz I’m not asking you to stop listening to anyone’s music as they’ve made the wrong decision.
Having said that I think you just taking up unneccessary argument with me for no apparent reason…lol! Your issue here is my statement about children looking up to her and the backclash bit, right. Maybe you’re from a decent home and absolutely listens to your parent but come on, some children out there have no one at home to look up to as PARENT. Some children can also go to extreme extent to emulate their fave celebrities which their parent would have no say in it. I do accept parent have a responsibilties to guide the decisions their children make yet mostly things don’t exactly work out the way you want it to be hence the saying ”you can drag a horse to the river bank to drink the water yet you can never force it to drink”. That being said, a parent could only do their best when bringing up their child but can never impose rules and regulation on them which is why my parents and Mama Norwood is doing her bit with my girl Brandy and lil devil Ray J(eyes rolling).
