Prior to Michael Jackson‘s untimely passing last year, the King of Pop had clocked up studio time with the likes of RedOne, will.i.am, and Ne-Yo. For the latter, though, what to do with the material he wrote for Jackson has been weighing on his mind.
In a recent interview, however, he revealed that he wants Janet Jackson and the Jackson 5 to record some of the songs he penned for their late brother.
His comments after the jump…
“I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with those songs. I can’t give them to anybody else because they were written for Michael. That would be disrespectful.
So if I could get Janet and the brothers to do a collaborative tribute, that would be a great idea. There are about 10 he personally selected. He told me, ‘I like this one, this one, this one.’ I can’t just put them out by myself because again they were meant for him but they’re really good songs, it’s good quality music.” {Source}
All the talk as of late of a new Michael Jackson material has left me dually excited (unheard MJ tracks), yet somewhat sceptical (due to potential exploitation). However, I’m sure many wouldn’t be averse to hearing the Ne-Yo penned tracks in this guise; maybe on the inevitable tribute album?
