    Ne-Yo has been showing some jealousy in his recent interviews and nothing good can come of his behavior.

    *DEAD* at the comments in here!

    Well I wasn’t really checking for ‘Libra Scale’ and I’ll admit that Ne-Yo has been getting on my nerves lately with all his lil wishy washy comments, but I wouldn’t wish failure on him. When an artist pushes back their albums serveral times it usually isn’t a good look. Poor Ne-Yo. *side eye*

    I like ‘Champagne Life’ but that song alone isn’t enough to make me want to rush out and buy his album. I don’t think it’s been performing to well on the charts either. *shrugs* Maybe like The Dream, Ne-Yo should give up on albums for himself and just stay behind the scenes and write. That’s where the money is anyways. *shrugs*

    @Piat: What’s up!

    LIke I said before, I don’t think Ne Yo was trying to throw shade with his comments about Usher, but it does look funny now that his album is getting pushed back. Dare I say it…..Karma. It looks bad when you critisize another artist and then your project gets pushed back twice.

    Is funny cause he was praising Trey so much, and it don’t look like Trey’s album is gonna do to well either. Lol! I wanna see between the two of them whose album is gonna do better.

    His songs aren’t as good as they used to be; he needs to stick to classy R&B music instead of trying to be an uptempo club artist.

  18. MUSIC LOVER August 21, 2010

    He needs to go back to writing songs like “So Sick”, “Because of You,” and “Mad.” I’m tired of hearing those electronic b******* pop songs that all sound the same.

  19. Tiff August 21, 2010

    I think he is realizing that his recent efforts are crap and he needs to go back in them studios and try again!

    AGREE WITH @ILOVEXTINA AND @TIFF.

    I think the pushback is just to get more attention to the album. There is not enough consumers checking for his album yet for it to be a good debut. However, I agree with the posts above that pushbacks usually just cause the entire album to leak too early and damage sales when the album drops. I have yet to see any artist be successful with an album pushed back over and over because what labels fail to realize is that pushbacks only cause all the album tracks to leak too early and the consumers that were initially interested in buying the album lose that interest.

    X,Y,”and Z” — OUT …!!

  24. Anon August 22, 2010

    The problem is this blog takes every pushback as definite sign of a major problem. Even with all the “pushbacks” the album is still hitting shelves less than a month after its first scheduled release date.

    PLEASE NOTE: ALBUM RELEASE DATES ARE USUALLY TENTATIVE!!! PLEASE STOP TREATING THEM AS GOSPEL!!!

    It’s weird that Ne-Yo’s career is fading away before Usher’s. What is bothering me is that no one is seeing that Ne-Yo is much more talented than Usher when it comes to creating music. Usher can sing and dance, but he cannot write for sh** and mostly has songwriters write songs for him, and he STILL HAS THE WORST LYRICS! I did not like any of Ne-Yo’s music when it first came out, and I actually think his music sounds a lot better now-a-days than it did like 4 years ago. Ne-Yo’s lyrics tend to be more mature and classier, while Usher’s are very distasteful, immature, bubblegum, and just idiotic. Usher pulled a Beyonce by quickly changing his ghetto R&B sound to that electo-pop sh** when his urban singles failed to go mainstream and he’s a complete sellout. His career should’ve been over. At least Ne-Yo remained true to who he is. He experimented with electronic music before it was IN DEMAND. I’m not really a fan of Ne-Yo’s but I call it like I see it.

    @Smartee…

    Usher’s lyrics on Here I Stand were some of the most mature lyrics he’s ever recordedn, and likewise on this new album the songs which weren’t released such as Mars vs Venus & Monstar both produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis were good lyrics. We do not know how much (or little) Usher contributes to the writing of his lyrics because he does not talk about it. But I don’t think that’s means to assume he doesn’t write anything at all, as his name is listed in the credits — sometimes at the beginning, and other times at the end. The industry is full of ghost writers and even artists that you assume write all of their own s*** — ie Alicia Keys — have ghost writers and pay to have their name on the byline so who really knows who writes what. Anyway, as far as Ne-Yo, I liked his first album In My Own Words, but I don’t see where his lyrics are anything to get up off of my chair about. Like most contemporary R&B artists, Ne-Yo included, the themes and writing are very cyclic and regurgitate the same scenarios without any poetic verse. Not since the MoTown era with the likes of Stevie Wonder or even the New Jack Swing era with Tony Toni Toné has there been anything revolutionary with modern R&B singers. As for Beyoncé and Usher, you sound ignorant assuming that their previous music was “ghetto R&B”. What exactly constitutes as “ghetto R&B”? The same music Ne-Yo did on his first two albums? ‘U Remind Me’ had no “ghetto” elements to it, which I’m assuming you mean to say more hip hop influenced and neither did ‘Me, Myself & I’ as far as Beyoncé is concerned. In fact, Usher’s music was always heavy R&B with the likes of Babyface & Donell Jones producing a lot of his work UNTIL every one went batshit over ‘Yeah’. Anyway, as for selling out… please tell me the last “R&B” song which was “classy” to go to #1 or even enter the top ten of Billboard. No one is selling out, R&B is not in high demand as it was years ago and this is why our stars are moving with the times. You have to move with trends to stay relevant, and the artist who does not evolve or change fails. Simple as that. They are mainstream artists; if you’d like to listen to ‘classy R&B’ please find the oldies station and or go support Amel Larrieux, Goapele, Brittany Bosco, Janelle Monaé, Noel Gourdin, Dwele and the rest of the neo-soul artists whose pens are way better than Ne-Yo’s and cover not only things pertaining to relationships, but love of self, socially aware songs, and then some. Above all else remember, the entertainment industry is a BUSINESS, and they are in it to make money. They are no more ‘selling out’ now than when they signed their contracts at the beginning of their careers.

    As for Ne-Yo… I agree that a pushback is not always the sign of an album that would bomb. Keri Hilson’s album was pushed back multiple times but found success when she finally released it. You definitely have to have the proper set up and I haven’t seen Ne-Yo getting much exposure lately so its probably for the best.

    I haven’t really liked any of Ne-Yo’s music since his first two albums, which lol ironically sounded very similar imo as if he had just did a IMOW Part 2 lol. On a side note, I do find him to be very petty or else he has painted himself that way given his interviews. Wish him luck.
