A new song from Trey Songz’s upcoming ‘Passion, Pain & Pleasure’ has just surfaced. The record, entitled ‘Doorbell’, is track #12 on the LP which hits stores on September 14th. Give it a listen below:
To complain about Songz’s inability to sing about anything except sex at this point is futile so let’s just talk about the quality of the track. The production of the song uses a similar beat as J. Holiday’s ‘Bed’ but the melody and vocal arrangement of the chorus is quite pleasant.
Vocally, however, Songz fails to impress on all counts. When he sings in his falsetto he sounds as though he is fighting for dear life to get the notes out like an old man on the toilet who needs more fibre. In fact, the only time Songz sounds comfortable is when he is yodeling the same 4 notes to which he is accustomed.
There is nothing sexy about this record. Rather, the only person who would want to ring Songz’s ‘doorbell’ is Elvis to tell him that he would like to have his singing style back. Cue Songz’s constipation face.
