Trey Songz Performs ‘Already Taken’ On ‘Fallon’

Published: Tuesday 3rd Aug 2010 by Trent

Trey Songz made a guest appearance on ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’ last evening. The somewhat successful singer performed ‘Already Taken’ from the ‘Step Up 3D Original Motion Picture Soundtrack’. Check out the performance below:

The only thing that Songz did more than grab his crotch in that performance was go off key. There is no doubt that he is a talented singer but it seems that he isn’t aware of (or refuses to accept) his vocal limitations. In a similar fashion to his rendition of Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ at the 2010 BET Awards, Songz was simply trying to do too much. Get it together, you ain’t Usher.

First of all , Why does the backup singer of MARY J. BLIGE is on stage with an artist like Trey Songz …?

Second Of All , Can’t you just stand there and sing your song , don’t move like that Trey , it doesn’t give your more toughness at all

He and Kelly need to realize their limits and just kill the vocals in their range….straining isnt something that sounds good.

  5. GangsterA August 3, 2010

Lmao @The somewhat successful singerThe peformance sucked trey need to humble hes ass and sing songs that appeal to stright men too then hes next album may go better than just gold but hey hes happy with his gold then its all good…..i guess

In spite of R. Kelly’s shortcomings….he is a vocally good and a greater songwriter (who many know R. Kelly wrote Maxwell’s Fortunate?) nobody should compare R.Kelly’s vocals to Trey. Trey is a decent singer but he has to add something to his stage presence…something is just missing???

  7. Soulful Roses August 3, 2010

I expected Trent and Sam to be salty against Trey Songz after he did that interview. But they have really been going in on Trey for the last few days…LMAO! Whats going on?

  8. Robier August 3, 2010

Trey sat ur ass DOWN!!! LEARN UR VOCAL LIMITATIONS.

I like trey but I’m not a fan and that performance was terrible

I thought he sounded pretty good up until the “None of these chicks can’t ____ wit my baby” part. He was doing WAY too much with the vocals and the body motions. It was just too forced! And after that he started to do too much with the ad libs and ish. But other than that he sounded good IMO. But my favorite part of this performance was the live BAND! GEEEEZ, I LOVE live bands. They always give me life! ?uestlove always does his thang on them damn drums. I love him!

Trent and Sam, please stop with that unnecessary hatery. You’re becoming jokes on your own.

Trey did a good job, not great but decent. The song is meh anyway. What can he do with that kind of snoozefest? The Step up franchise used to have hit songs on the OST…

uuuuhhhh. I Didn’t think it was bad. Looked like a trey songz performance to me. Definitely not the mess you made it out to be.

  19. Mr. Dempsey August 4, 2010

I’m still trying to give this man a chance, but I can’t ride with him because he’s trying to hard to “perform” and should concentrate more on his vocals to prove the haters wrong. “None of these chicks” is my favorite part of the song, but he took the key down and I hate when artists do this because it takes away from the song.

  20. CRE8TIVE_i August 4, 2010

IT WASNT THAT BAD… I THOUGHT THIS WAS ONE OF HIS BETTER PERFORMANCES HES EVER DONE…

  21. DaYandM August 4, 2010

Wow!!! Trey got some big feet, instead of peopleknick naming him bambi they should call him thumper. LOL

  22. BENJAMIN August 5, 2010

    Try again Trey.

  23. Hip Hop Police August 5, 2010

It was aight. I love when entertainers use live bands and back up singers too. It sounded like he had too much mic and sometimes he does overdo his limits as far as his vocals are concern but he can sing.

  24. Alexander August 6, 2010

Who are you kidding! Off beat, moving like he’s on meth; Screaming off tune and pitch.
Trey is horrible and R Kelly made the track first would have destroyed the vocals acapella peeps!

    Trey is over and done

  25. Alexander August 7, 2010

Substance I say not due to the lack of variety in his lyrics, you here popping bottles in the club or booty! Come on R Kelly has been consistent with his music for over 20 years and counting.
Trey has been a puppy in this game and continues to mock the style of a legend and sing about s** where there is no meaning like love!

R Kelly sings about spiritual love and god along with forgiveness in his lyrics ok! What have some of you critics been listening too? look this cat has made the same videos like Say Ahh and Neighbors know my name or s** room! He has made other artist lose credibility by working with him namely Keri Hilson who went from Number One to Invented & Ludcris going from Stripper to S** Room and Luda sounds the exact same as Trey.

    Point made I hope!

But the next album of Passion Pleasure Pain will sell less and flop! Not making any excuses for R Kelly’s Untitled but most of those songs were leaked and he had changed the title to untitled cause of the internet,

But R Kelly has out-dueled Trey in sales overseas and that was ” Trent’s” point of crossing over and Trey Said he will not consider it. Look at the London interview.

Trey Songz needs to reinvent himself and find his own style of sound and lyrics and stop Troy Taylor from plagiarizing R Kelly’s music and lyrics once and for all. Fans will soon leave his flock and find other means of music than cope with a cocky walking skinny dude bimbo! Any young man who prides himself as Gods gift to women must have sugar in his tank. Hadeem was the dude he kissed in that internet video that was dispersed all over the net. Hmm.

Well I’m a true fan of R Kelly and others and by no means have they ever dissed somebody with a track calling them out nor going public with the media taking shots at other artist.
Trey crossed the line and thought his album would explode by doing the Rap diss thing while Kelly was down and out after his legal battles which he was found innocent of any crime. You just do not knock anybody down while they’re getting up from the deck.

Music has changed and these younger players has no respect and hip hop is teaching violence and rapes of all sorts. Come on here look how Lil Wayne & Drake brought out underage girls on-stage during Michael Jackson’s tribute on B.E.T.. tasteless and shameful.

Trey has captivated the young teens and it more of a mockery as a 25 year old would think he can sell a million or more by doing the Justin Beiber thing. Goat Songz Baa can’t even touch Usher in music or dance also Chris Brown.

But for you bloggers who pulls for Trey needs some reminder what real music use to be and how people got there, just listen to your Mom and /dads old jams and hear those beautiful lyrics and harmony. Sample over reverbs and edits will not save Trey, vocally R Kelly can’t be matched and he has replaced the Luther Vandross’es and Mj’s he has the grace of what once is and always will be! Classic music.

Goat Songz has song and made his last and first gold album because the next will be toilet of my terrible breakfast I ate in the morning.
    Nice job Trent
