He sounds horrible on it, like he’s trying to out-sing Trey Songz. And the song is just horrible anyway. He should stop, he’s old and washed up and stopped making decent songs after ‘Ignition’.

I like this song it sounds like old school R&B which I adore. The thing I love the most about R Kelly is that he is not FAKE like these new singers. The way you hear him in this video is how he will sound live on a stage also to perfection. You put up the new singers (e.g. Trey Songz, Jason Derulo etc) live on a stage and they sound horrid and look like idiots to top that off.

The difference is, Chris Brown acknowledged what he did and ASKED (over and over) for forgiveness. R. Kelly hasn’t done that, he paid his victim off to silence her and save his own skin.
It’s cool! I’m not down for what he did but R.Kelly is a musical genius in many respects and that can’t be forgotten. Some of the best artists the world has had…Marvin Gaye, MJ, James Brown, Donny Hathaway…were tortured souls and struggled with inner issues like drug addiction, mental health issues, DV, etc. Their personal issues cannot take away the legacy they left on the music world.
@Mileka … An originator (R. Kelly) can’t copy an imitator (Trey Songz). Don’t get me wrong I think Trey is a decent artist but he is no R. Kelly. There is no competition between R. Kelly and Trey Songz except Trey has a buzz around him now. R. Kelly has given the world all types of songs and have written for other people as well. He still holds the thrown and been in the music game for at least 10-20 years.

I’m actually more of an R. Kelly fan thana Trey Songz fan, I own about 4 of his albums on cd as opposed to none of Trey’s.
This song sounds like an isntant classic! Its the mature sound that Kelly has not delivered in his past few albums, but I always knew he could go back to at any time, cause he has writtin songs for other artists that were mature sounding… He’s the pen behind Whitney Houston’s I Look To You. Artist go through different phases in life & their music is a reflection of that. I personally think he had some things to get out of his system knowing he could make this style of music at any time. Regardless of what ppl say about his past albums they all still outsold a lot of the competition. Everyone is big upping Trey, when his last album still only went gold with 6 vids to help push it. Hope he gets a well deserved Grammy for this song & I hope his album is geared to the over 25 crowd!

OKAY I LOOOOVVVEEE THIS SONG. I like the black and white concept and one man and a mic performance. Sometimes simple is better and in the case of this song the video fits perfectly. I couldnt really see no high budget video for this it wouldnt make sense.

I’m a fan of Trey Songz but I still like R. Kelly (JUST his music though… ughhh I’m not going to go further). R. Kelly’s put out tons of great songs- I listen to Imagine That and Ignition allll the time on my m** player and I think The World’s Greatest from the Ali movie is amazing. But I think a lot of people forget that:
Just because it’s R. Kelly doesn’t make it a good song. Just because you hate Trey Songz doesn’t mean everything R. Kelly puts out is good.
Personally, I don’t think this song is anything special. It’s decent, vocals are nice. But nothing special.
Also, there’s only so much that you can compare Trey Songz and R. Kelly. It’s all so very subjective, but I’d argue that it doesn’t make sense to compare artists by the amount of hits they have. Not everything that reaches the top of the charts is a good song. Many amazing songs never make it onto the charts. Longevity doesn’t seem like a legitimate point of comparison because, while I think most would agree that R. Kelly’s career has peaked, Trey Songz is only a few years in, and getting bigger each year.
A lot of people want to turn it into a battle of the Old vs. the New.
Why must be R. Kelly vs. Trey Songz. Or Chris Brown, or Usher, or Ne-yo, or whoever else is out there.
Just because you like one doesn’t mean you must dislike everything the others put out.
Sam and Trent, I hope you read this. You don’t even have to be neutral, but at least give artists a fair chance. And if you want to post “facts,” at least let them be true.
