While Lady GaGa was dominating the MTV VMAs last evening, Christina Aguilera was far away in New York City. The singer performed John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ at Jazz at Lincoln Centre for the launch of the Montblanc John Lennon Edition writing instrument. Check out her full performance below:

As usual Aguilera added a series of unnecessary vocal runs in her effort to show off her voice. There is a difference between making your song your own and exaggerating every note; ruining the composition of the original in the process. Somebody needs to sit her down and let her know that, like her ‘Not Myself Tonight’ video, she is trying way too hard.
