Keri Hilson’s ‘Breaking Point’ video premiered moments ago. The Bryan Barber-directed clip was shot to support the track which serves as the 1st single from her upcoming studio album, ‘No Boys Allowed’. Check out the video below:
This was a very simple yet effective video. Hopefully it gives the record the push it needs because the song has yet to climb pass #87 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart or even scratch the Billboard Hot 100. If not then it will prove to be yet another solo single by Hilson that failed to have an impact.

Damn! SMH at all the hate this girl gets. The song and video are not that bad! In fact they are actually quite good. Keri does tend to over sing in her songs, but this song has meaning and depth and isn’t all about shaking your ass in the club and getting drunk. Its relateable and the video conveys female empowerment, which is more than you can say for a lot of music out now a days. Plus the video actually goes with the song, which is so refreshing!
I still don’t think it’s good first single material though. I thought the song was pretty boring the first time I heard it, the video helps me like it more, but its still a bit boring. I don’t think that the audience she is reaching for is gonna be checking for it. The audience that she captured with ‘Turnin Me On” and “Knock Me Down’ isn’t really feelin this. I love the fact that she is trying something different and I think it shows growth, but I think she needs to put out something that will get more attention. Im not talking about putting out generic pop music, that everybody else is doing, but something more up tempo, something they can play in the clubs.
I like Keri a lot, I think she is a dope songwriter, with a decent voice and she is a beautiful girl (even though I think she needs to step her stlye game up) but she still has yet to really establish herself as an ‘artist’ . A lot of the stuff she puts out sound like demo’s for other artist. She never really puts her stamp on it that makes it feel like only Keri could sing this. I used to see her as a female versoin of Ne-Yo, but now, and I really hate to say this but maybe she is just better off as a songwriter like Dream. I mean Dream has had some hit singles, but not albums. He is more successful as a writer making hits for other artist rather than himself.
I am wishing Miss Keri luck on her new album. She is gonna need a hit soon though, I am a lil worried she might have to push her date back. Who knows she could surprise us like Trey did. ; )
