Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger was drafted in to re-record the iconic James Bond movie theme ‘Goldeneye’ for the re-release of the Nintendo 64′ ‘Goldeneye 007’. The remake of the fanboy smash hit stores around the globe this week, and is available on the Wii and DS.
How, though, did Scherzinger fare with the Tina Turner classic? Find out after the jump…
Important not to do, is to compare this version to the original. It’s unfair in that it would only come up short. That said, judged on its own merit (as it should be), the remake works remarkably well. Scherzinger’s smoky vocals compliment the Big Band production, and she packs enough power and gusto into her delivery to elevate the song beyond karaoke status. If there’s one gripe, it’s that the vocals become rather pitchy, screechy, and shouty, at the bridge. Yet, this doesn’t prove enough to surmount what, otherwise, is a solid showing. Good stuff.
