Fantasia keeps the ball rolling with the video new single ‘I’m Doin Me’ – which premièred minutes ago on VEVO. The release is the latest to be lifted from the American Idol star’s 3rd studio album ‘Back to Me’ – which debuted at #2 Billboard 200 back in August.

It’s pretty much a given that Fantasia is ranked rather high here at That Grape Juice, yet it’s important to keep it real. That was a recession-special. No if’s, but’s, or maybe’s.
The worse part of the whole shabang is that the problem lay not with the video set nor the storyline. Instead it was the post-production. Something about the editing, lighting, and whatnot, came across distinctly cheap. Put simply, the video lacked the all-important gloss which, otherwise, would have made it that much better.
Still, the clip is cute. But is ‘cute’ enough when as of last week ‘Back to Me’ had sold just 283,000 copies? Unfortunate given how amazingly solid it is. Here’s hoping this release, along with her forthcoming tour, and VH1 reality show promo, help push the album to at least Gold status.

The album is doing good , i’m not afraid about it , soon it will be at 300k sold and that’s pretty amazing to me ! It will definetly get the Gold status , both singles “Bittersweet” and “I’m Doin’ me” are doing realy well on the Urban Radios , and knowing that there’s a lot of awesome other singles in the album , it will definetly push the album more more and more , they just need to keep on releasing singles/videos !

i disagree Sam i think the gloss wasnt needed it was more naturalistic almost television show or movie which in the case of this video worked for me , save the glitz n the glamour for the artists without the voice!

I have never seen so much ugly in a single video (but then again it’s understandable, she isn’t what one would call a money spinner…so why waste the effort or money?
As for album sales…sorry to burst many a fans bubble, but album will not achieve gold certification (atleast not anytime soon). I think someone needs to rewrite James Brown song: It’s not a mans world but rather “its a white mans world”. Black artists as a whole will never be as successful as their white counterparts, there isn’t going to be another Michael Jackson or Whitney Houston folks.
What is everyone talking about…this video is actually quite good. It serves it’s purpose!

Let me tell you. bittersweet didnt do justice to that album. Afterr buying this album i cannot stop listening to it……………It is just AMZAINg. One of the best R&B albums of the year. Fantasia is so underrated……………………………..This is album is beautiful!!!!!!…………………i Love it. Video not so hot, but the song is good. Not like song singers* (I use this word very losssely) who have Hot videos and semi-hot songs and cant ddeliver them live…… 🙁

There is so much Hit in making songs on the labum, i dont understand the singles choice. Falling In Love (When i see u part 2.lol), Move on Me, Man of the house, Even Angel, the Thrill is Gone…………..i just dont get it 🙁

LOVE THE SONG. LOVE THE CONCEPT OF THE VIDEO….but I just feel like Benny Boom could have delivered a more polished product as Sam said. I DO understand the essence of what he was trying to deliver but it still needs to be a polished product. So with that said, I agree with SAM!

I live the concept.. Just being the real fanny, f**** every1 else.. however I do agree @Jamaican Bouy there are other worthy songs worth being singles.. However when this song premiered last season, just a snippet, I was in love with that lil clip.. I think in due time she CAN get her Gold Certification.. Just this month, Monica went OFFICALLY GOLD by selling to date 516,000 so its not an easy task…. Christmas time is coming, every1 go and buy these for the stocking fillers… I am!
I give scant attention to videos in general, but I watched this. I love the song and I’m happy to see Fantasia happy. It’s for that latter reason alone that I give thumbs up to this video.
The video is cute, even though it looks a little bit ghetto. But it’s Fantasia, she can get away with that. Nonetheless it’s cute.
Fanny should’ve pulled off the single way earlier, because it’s only her second release from ‘Back To Me’. If she had released this in August/September, her sales would have been higher. She had good first week sales, but after that she went lazy (same goes for Monica). Both artists released great R&B/Soul albums this year, but they should’ve promoted it better/longer!
Loves Fantasia! Her album was one of the best R&B albums to be released this yr. I just know for a fact that it’ll reach gold status…WATCH!
“Back To Me” will get that gold certification. The Cd will be over the 300k mark next week.
I’m liking the video. It is happy and fun..the type of video I wanted to see from Fantasia. The video matches the song, and that’s cool with me.
I LOVE this song! Her ad-libs at the end are amazing. I just know she would slay this song live, like she does for everything she does live. The album is phenomenal. I also thinks she’s very underrated. She has a GREAT voice with so much emotion and feeling to it. I love it. She’s the BEST Americal Idol IMO. There just hasn’t been a contestant or season for that matter that measures up to her performances. I just get so excited when she performs. I really didn’t like Bittersweet that much until I seen her perform it! She makes me like anything she sings live 10 times better because voice is so infectious!
I can appreciate the video because it actually has a concept unlike many other videos nowadays. However, I hate her make-up and hair in this video. Her outfits were cute, though.
I think this is one of the weaker songs on the album. She should have released “Man of the House” as planned!

Well I thought it did jus wat that song needed. I never really cared for the song anyways. The video was simple and jus showed her enjoyin herself and feelin free.

It wasn’t the video, It was her! Plain and simple. That dress and jean jacket looked cheap, and made her look fat, and what was with that hair do! Obviously Fanny is a talented singer, but I wasn’t sold on her new album, at all! She needs a make-over, her sound, her clothes everything!

I love Tasia to DEATH, and this is like one of my FAVORITE songs on the album, but this video is beyond cheap and basically a hot mess. LOL. No gloss, no glam, nothing. If the whole video was shot on a green screen it mighta been better! LOL. I still love her tho!
