Moments ago Christina Aguilera performed the US national anthem at Super Bowl XLV. The singer dared to sing the song live at the event and encountered several difficulties int he process. See her performance below:
Not only did Aguilera massacre the lyrics but her voice at the song’s climax was incredibly strained. While it is commendable that that she attempted to sing this song live (a rare feat for singers at this event), the pressure that her vocal cords had to endure during this showing was quite painful to observe.
It has been blatantly appearant for quite some time that Aguilera’s voice is no longer as flexible as it was in her youth and this performance confirmed that fact. All singers experience changes with age so maybe the time has come for Aguilera to acknowledge her limits and seek help from a vocal coach.
Aguilera’s pride was one of the key factors for the failure of her ‘Bionic’ campaign and if she is not careful then it will also ruin the one thing she has left – her voice.
