Fantasia phoned BET’s ‘106 & Park’ last evening. While talking to the show’s hosts about winning her 1st ever Grammy Award at Sunday’s ceremony, the R&B singer revealed the reason why she didn’t attend the show – her omission from the Aretha Franklin tribute.
Peep what Fantasia had to say below:
I’m going to be very honest with you. You know I wasnt at the Grammys last night, I’m kind of going through my own little thing…last night they were honoring someone who is my idol, Aretha Franklin, and there is no way I could have sat there and not got the happy feet and wanting to jump on the mic because she is my favorite so I felt like, you know, at the end of the day I should have been on that stage so, I kind of did my own little thing last night. {Source}
Although it would have been great to see Fantasia on the Grammy stage, she has already performed several tributes to Franklin at different events. She certainly isn’t the only singer to have been influenced by the Queen of Soul (every artist in that room has been touched by her legacy).
Still, props to Fantasia for not attending the show and storming the stage like a crazed fan. Lil Mama I’m looking at you.
