Exactly! When I listen to Chris’ first album, his voice is just as high if not higher than Justin’s! And I totally agree. His music definitely will improve, no doubt. I do like, too, that he’s not jumping on the dance bandwagon. I love dance music to death, but I do want some artists to avoid it – and I think he should. I just hope his next album doesn’t go in that direction. He can clearly be successful without doing so.

@ LTM. There are only so many artists that can come back after a four year break each time, and be successful.
Christina is talented, but she never had that IT girl factor like Beyonce, Britney and Lady GaGa because she was always overshadowed by Britney.
I never even saw the point of her taking four years between each album, when she could come up with something good in two. There is no logical reason for her to be taking four years off between albums. All she has to do is take a year off, and drop an album the following year.
It seems to me that a some of Christina’s fan base has moved on, and with so many artists coming out and slam dunking on the charts, Pop music moves past Christina every time she takes a four year break.

Exactly! Beyonce always seems to be more active publicly when her albums are nearly done, so it’s only a matter of time. Plus, she’s been attending business meetings (possibly for the album) and she already selected clothes for the album’s booklet and cover back in November. I think she’s just finishing it up right now.

Boo, I’ve been a Brit stan for over twelve years and I am telling you this now; that performance is painful to watch. I’ve only seen it thrice (once live) – it is not something to try and cover up.
People who were watching it were watching with shocked faces – it got the worst press since the Superbowl 04 debacle. People weren’t in the palm of the Princess’ hand.

I could see her branching out with some lyrical themes. I mean, I love Just Dance and Telephone, but I definitely do not want her to spend the rest of her career only writing songs in that vein. She needs to evolve lyrically. But at the same time, she shouldn’t go all 180 on us for now. The progression has to be natural.
I would hope it’s not true, only because this will be the second time that Muse will take the big stage at a major American award show, and the first time they did, their performance got completely overshadowed by Kanye’s dumbassery (as was everything else that night). I don’t want Muse to get overshadowed by Gaga, as they most certainly would.

Indeed. If you really care about an artist, you will admit that they are not perfect, and not be afraid to be vocal about the areas they could stand to improve on. Being a “yes” person isn’t helpful at all. It’s no different than when someone close to you criticizes a mistake you make or points out your faults, most of the time it is constructive criticism, and it is done of out love, not hate. If I hated Christina, I would wish for her to continue singing in the manner she does so that she can further destroy her voice, and have no career left. I really don’t know what Gaga’s planning for BTW since it seems all over the place, but I do know that I want her to make to some songs like her first two albums. Actually, an album of “Dance in the Dark”‘s would be great. I love that that song successfully conveys a great message but is still very dance-orientated and fun. However, I desire progression and not regression. We all know BTW will disappoint, though.
As for Muse, I totally agree. Every time they perform at a major awards show, they’re overshadowed. I don’t want this collaboration NOW, but in the future, it’d be great.

I think “Judas” will be about being under a microscope. The definition of judas is a peephole, so if she takes it literally, it’d be interesting. I’d love for her to make song about feeling like you don’t live up to the expectations people have of you, and then a video like that would be great. I would have to disagree with you. That is simply because it is easy to hear when someone has poor vocal technique – in fact it is even possible to see it.
Watch Christina’s throat the next time she sings. It almost always looks strained when she hits the very highest of notes. Mariah, Whitney and other great singers’ throats NEVER look like this; they always look relaxed. Indeed, the fact that Christina’s throat looks that way indicates that she sings from that area – which any vocal coach will tell you is a very bad idea when reaching for higher notes. You’re supposed to sing from your diaphragm etc.
If you want an example, look up what is widely considered to be her best performance – the Grammy 07 ‘It’s a Man’s World’.
It also explains why her range is diminished. It is a fact that your voice is at its best in your mid to late thirties, yet Christina’s voice has worsened over the years. This is due to strain and overuse.
It’s a shame because Christina has one of the most beautiful tones in the industry. When she sings songs like You Lost Me, you can truly appreciate the stunning quality to it. She only has to learn proper vocal technique and stop singing from the throat, if only to preserve the voice she has left.

I agree. It was a clever thing to do at the beginning of her career when she needed to get noticed and be distinguished from everyone else, but now that she’s achieved the desired effect, she can stand to tone it down a notch. I agree that people complain. But there is a happy medium – she doesn’t need to oversing. She has an innate ability for singing – she simply needs to learn better technique.
And, yes, Mariah and Whitney aren’t as good as in their heyday, but that isn’t due to poor vocal technique. Rather to external voices ( in Mariah’s case, nodules; in Whitney’s… well, we all know what went wrong there. :))

I think that her fourth album would’ve been like an edgier version of GGGB and it would’ve done super well, but her fame would’ve stayed about the same. Then I think she’d be working on a fifth album right now.

With the exception of Marilyn Manson, their careers didn’t really die. In fact, some of Bowie’s most critically acclaimed albums are from his more normal phases of his career, Ray of Light is Madonna’s most acclaimed album, and she was past her shock phase as well. Alice was really in a league of his own in the 70s, yet he still continued to be relevant throughout the 80s.
If Gaga toned it down and focused more on her music instead of her image, it would boost her career more than anything, I honestly believe that. Not only does she not need the gimmicks, but she is actually better without them. Even her haters (much as they try to deny it) know that.

Before the incident, Rihanna had a lot success but she wasn’t super popular, if that makes sense. She had huge success but her fame wasn’t insane. Nowadays, she has tons of success and tons of fame. With Chris, I think that Graffiti would’ve been a bit happier and less redemption-focused. However, I don’t think it would be. I mean, Graffiti’s only been out for a little over a year. If it was a hit album, he’d probably be wrapping up promotion for it. I think he released it too early anyways.
Also, I love that song so I hope it’s his. And I’m not a huge CB fan, by the way. When I say that though, most crazy stans think it’s because of the incident when it’s really because of his music.

Yesterday, Lady Gaga released her new single “Born This Way” and gays all over Orange County have voiced disgust at her for using them as marketing ploys. Many are also disgusted about “Born This Way’s” plagiarizing of Madonna’s “Express Yourself.”
This morning, music industry message boards and other sites are accusing Lady Gaga of paying off Perez Hilton and Rolling Stone to hype her new album and tear other artists down. Rolling Stone published a review that read “Born This Way is much better than Express Yourself,” where author Robert Sheffield praises Lady Gaga, but tears down Madonna and falsely makes the assumption that “Express Yourself” was a ripoff of “Respect Yourself” by the Staple Brothers.
Soon after, Perez Hilton tweeted an anti-Madonna post used to prop up Lady Gaga. “Did Madonna ever write a song all by herself? No!” This was proven false by Madonna’s record company, who tweeted that Madonna had written the music, melodies, and lyrics to the songs “Everybody,” “Lucky Star,” and “Gambler” without plagiarizing others.
An employee at Interscope, Lady Gaga’s record company, told this column that the payola allegations are absolutely false, but that many are turned off by the Born This Way marketing campaign. What do you think?

Of course if she had made TF and TFM without having had the visuals to accompany the songs and bring them to life in her performances, she wouldn’t be anywhere near as huge as she is now.
But she can totally continue to have great success without the gimmicks, if she would just focus more on the music, make it stand completely on its own. She is talented enough to not rely on the gimmicks, and if it seems like she does, well that’s because she makes it so.
That being said, her shtick is a part of the complete package that you get with her, and I wouldn’t change that. But I don’t want her to use it as a crutch, THAT is what I’m afraid of.

Beyonce doesn’t look OLD. Her makeup, the undereye concealor has a greenish tone to it. She looks ‘natural’ and a bit tired. Maybe she’s been drinking and having fun, who knows? The BLONDE of her hair is ultra light in contrast with her roots, thus making her look washed out. But she doesn’t look OLD, just bland.
RIhanna’s hair needs less raspberry and more cumen. The pink-maroon-red is not working here.
Also, the flash on the camera yields some bad lighting. One side of Beyonce’s face (teeth) look a tinge more yellow than the other. All of Rihanna looks tinted out with the flash.
