Jennifer Lopez visited ‘The Breakfast Club’ on Power 105.1 recently. Amidst candid discussions with the show’s hosts about her judging position on ‘American Idol’ and her upcoming album, ‘Love?’, the entertainer revealed the real reason why she left Sony Music Entertainment and signed with rival label Island Def Jam in 2010.
Lopez also spoke about the criticism she experienced when she was announced as the new ‘Idol’ judge given her limited ability as a vocalist. Hear what she had to say below:

You don’t need to be able to do master a talent in order to judge another person’s talent, prime example: Simon Cowell, yet nobody has anything to say. When it comes to females, however, people want to b****. (Cheryl Cole, J. Lo, etc.)
If you do a drawing of a face and it looks more like a pie, then you can’t draw. I don’t need to be Picasso to have that opinion. The same principle applies. 99% of the people on this website probably can’t sing, including Sam and Trent, and you don’t see anybody holding back when it comes to judging people’s vocals… i.e. Rihanna.

I always listen to her and just adore her even more. She’s a very down to earth person. She makes so much sense and she actually has a lot of wise words for anyone looking to do what she does. She’s very inspiring. I like that none of their harsh words phase her, she has a great sense of security and she’s above the negativity. I must say that love her attitude.

What a dumbass statement? JLO has no room to judge who has talent because SHE IS SUPPOSED TO BE A SINGER HERSELF! Just like Jimmy Kimmel said “If Jlo told me that I couldn’t sing I would say well you can’t either!” It’s one thing to be someone who isn’t a singer, just a person who critiques people, and another to be a horrible vocalist and tell someone that he or she can’t sing. You can’t see how hypercritical that is? How are you going to tell someone that he/she doesn’t have the talent to be the singer when you are a perfect example of how talent doesn’t mean anything, just a hot look/image and good beats. Plus, she hasn’t even taken any damn professional music courses or knows anything about music and singing. All she does on Idol is sit there, smile, and tell someone if she liked how they sounded or not.
Anyway, JNO is so damn dull. She really isn’t anything special or exciting. Plus, she’s doing all of this promo, yet people still don’t give a damn about her. People are so focused on Britney, Gaga, Beyonce, and Chris Brown.

The answer is NO. So that’s that argument done, game over, well done for trying but you fail.
And first and foremost, J.Lo is an all-round entertainer. She was acting long before she got into music. Once you get into one part of the entertainment industry, it’s easier to and people often experiment with slipping into another part of it. “American Idol” is not an “all-round entertainment” competition. It is primarily a singing competition, which is why you did not see Kelly Osborne or Fantasia doing back flips and shaking their asses around the stage. If people want to become stars based on being an all-round entertainer like J.Lo, then they should try by other means rather than entering a SINGING competition, where they are going to be primarily judged on their SINGING. Does she have a big voice – no! but big voice isn’t necessarily an indication of singing capabilitly. She did the right thing when she left SONY cos for example the album BRAVE was a Hit from the 1rst to the last song,it got beautiful lyrcs and great music but they didn`t give a damn and they didn`t promote it at all and that put a black stain on Jennifer carreer but Def Jam know she still got it and they believe in her,you don`t have to have Christina Aguliera voice to be said that ure a great singer cos J.lo`s voice is so relaxing and soft and that`s what Def Jam see in her,they know she`s talented and that about 40 million album they were sold for a reason for sure.

Regardless of whether you can think she can sing or not, surely you’re smart enough to understand the distinction between singing and judging (otherwise I don’t know how you could be smart enough to find your way to on the internet :D).
Surely you can see the bigger picture; the judges aren’t personally judging them according to their own singing abilities. By approving of a singer she’s not saying she’s “you’re as good as singing as me or better”, just as she is not saying “you’re worse than me” if she rejects.
Much like the other judges, they’re RELYING on their EXPERIENCE in the music industry to contribute a sense of what they feel (based on what they’ve seen and experienced) is appropriate to “make it”. Otherwise wouldn’t the producers of American Idol make a bit more of an obvious effort to pick 3 judges who are of the best voices in the country??
