Why all this talk about originality? Even the most “original” artists take from fashion, film, music, art, and literature. Most of Michael Jackson’s music videos are replicas of movies. Rihanna hasn’t even been interviewed yet and people are calling her a copycat. Maybe, she saw his images and wanted that in her video. Nothing wrong with it. She didn’t claim it was her idea. And Beyonce has always been very vocal about her music videos: Sweet Charity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Addicted to Love. She’s exposing her audience to old ideas in a new format.

I wish that people would stop saying that once the video comes out, HIAM will pick up! That’s not true and hasn’t been true for a while. That only happened when networks like MTV and VH1 were the only places where you could watch the debut of music videos. Once the video comes out, I’m sure everyone is going to be disappointed. Britney has not had a great video for years. I agree that her last “great” video was “Toxic.” Everything after that has been very uncreative and predictable. This video looks wack already. They were planning to release “Raining Men” and “S&M” together, but they scrapped the “Raining Men” release, so now it’s just “S&M”. Now the “Raining Men” release will occur later this year, and then it will chart.
